English Atheists and "God Save The Queen"

Watching the Olympics and listening to 80 thousand people sing “God Save the Queen,” got me to wondering. Are English atheists just as screwy as their American counterparts?

. Are atheists in England fighting to have God removed from that song?

. Are they writhing in agony like American atheists do when hearing the word God?

. Do English atheists have visions of lawyers and dream of lawsuits every time the song is played?

. Do they grind their teeth when witnessing thousands of people singing along (even Paul McCartney) and saying that awful word?

Canada?

“This is a glorious day for Canada!”

That’s what the announcer said.

Did we solve world hunger? Find the secret for peace on earth? Did a Canadian scientist cure the worst of the world’s ills? Destroy an earth obliterating asteroid?

Nope.

Not even close.

What happened was, a young Canadian woman rode her snow board down a hill faster than three other young women on their snow boards.

And that, we’re told, constitutes a glorious day for Canada. True, is was the Olympics but still . . .

How did our values ever become so skewed?
