Humans – You Just Gotta Love em

The power and influence of American culture reaches around the globe. That is no less true north of the 49^th.

We in Canada have no Constitutional statement like the one upon which atheists in the United States have performed a desultory operation. Nevertheless, thoughts on the Separation of Church and State have crept into our own society, into our own Elementary School. Multiculturalism (which is a good thing if you know where the dangers lurk) has caused us to consider what life might be like for others.

Canadians of course aren't nearly as litigious as Americans. No one is. Atheists in the U.S. drive Jesus the Christ from schools and any other public sphere by brute force. They'll even pretend to be sick or suicidal if they have to. Anything to remove the mention of their Creator from their line of sight. We in the Great White North put Jesus in a back room and out of sight not because we fear being sued, but because we're trying to be nice. Here's an example.

In the school that my children attend, Christianity has been traditionally and heavily promoted. That was the case until about ten years ago. Our community of ~ 1,800 is 15 minutes from a city of 250,000. It's 10 minutes away from a city of 5,000, and it's five minutes away from a city of 7,000. The building of houses is taking place at a furious pace as new commuters move into a place they believe will be safer for their family.

Of course many if not most of these “new” people would tick off, “no religion” on the now very popular polls that are tracking who has the most people on their team. Having the most people is supposed to mean something important although I'm not sure anyone could describe exactly what that important thing is.

Even though the current school children are still highly represented as coming from Christian homes, the decision has been made to do everything possible to avoid conflict or hurt feelings. In truth, a staff of teachers who 15 - 20 years ago almost all used to willingly attend a mid-day Bible study are now made up of mostly pagans and atheists. Therefore, if the account of Christ's birth is to be celebrated (Christmas), Kwanzaa and Hanukkah and Santa must also be celebrated.

This is where the humour begins. Besides two “Christian” women who feel compelled to follow Jewish dietary laws, there is not a Jewish person in town and by extension there are no Jewish children attending the elementary or high-school. Nor, I assure you is there anyone who is deeply into Kwanzaa.

What's my point? Good question.

When Kwanzaa and Hanukkah were introduced about six years ago, celebrating the birth of Jesus - the Christ - the reason that Christmas in the form that atheists cannot tolerate, was also part of the festivities. However each year there was an incremental decline in the focus on Jesus that was directly proportional to the increase in a focus on Kwanzaa, Hanukkah and oh, ya, I forgot, Santa.

This year?

We've got Kwanzaa and Hanukkah and Santa and nothing of the birth of Messiah Jesus.

Humans. We are a funny lot. Particularly we Christians. Gullible to the core. The organizers of these movements know the endgame well in advance. They coerce for same sex relations and as soon as that's in, every other type of sexual coupling is thrown in for good measure. That was the plan all along. We Christians look at that and wonder, “How did that happen?” We say, “Sure Jesus can share the celebration of His birth with other beliefs,” and whoosh, Jesus is gone and the celebration of everyone and anyone is in.

Americans and Guns – Surreal

Living in a country where 100,000+ die from “peace-time” gun violence every year, you'd think it would be an easy decision to make – get rid of the guns and fewer people will be killed by guns.

There is no point in going over all the pro and con arguments.

The bottom line is, until the American public changes from:

Unless you support the status quo on gun-ownership I will not vote for you

To

Unless you support strict gun-control I will not vote for you 

nothing will change. 

Peace on Earth to . . .

One of the most misquoted verses in the Bible is found in Luke chapter two. It's the account of Jesus' birth being announced to the Shepherds. The way we most often hear this verse is,

“Glory to God in the highest and peace on earth to everyone.”

Sounds nice. Right?

The problem of course is that if you look around you'll notice that we as a people are a long, long way from peace, both in the world and within ourselves.

Some people say this is a sign of the Bible being wrong.

Well, I really can't help those people, other than to point out that this is not what the verse says. The verse actually says,

"Glory to God in the highest and on earth, peace to all those upon whom His favour rests," or as some translations put it, "Peace on earth to all those who are pleasing to Him."

That's pretty important I think. The peace of God is never promised to all people. And it is never promised as something external. It is never promised as some type of freedom from violence or difficulty. As Christians, we were never promised nor do we expect to receive freedom from life's pain and suffering. We were never promised freedom from the storms of life. However, we do receive peace in the midst of the storm.

To remain an enemy of God is to be unfamiliar with inner peace.

Who would choose something like that?

That is why it is imperative for atheists to believe Sagan's refuted but deeply held atheist dogma that the cosmos is all that is or ever was and ever will be.

This is essentially the long discredited Steady State model which is still upheld by modern atheists since the only alternative is Creator God.

The only thing that can separate us from God's love is our decision to reject that love, a love which is demonstrated by the offer of salvation made to us while we were still His enemies. 

If you're reading this you still have time to change your mind, ask for forgiveness and make Jesus the Christ Lord of your life.

How can anyone be such a fool as to reject that offer?

Mind Bending Ignorance

When you read that, does your jaw drop just a little? As you lean a little bit towards the computer screen does your brow furrow and your mind go, “What? Most Christians are atheists?” 

And this meretricious observation comes via Times Square, from a Bright who is  American atheist's Leader - representing 5% of the population. What kind of logic must less able atheist thinkers possess? 

I have no doubt that there are many, many people who are “trapped” for whatever reason in the beliefs of their parents; children of religious parents and children of atheist parents. But to label someone a Christian because h/her parents went to Church or because the parents were genuine followers of Jesus? Seriously?

As the line goes, “God does not have grandchildren.”

Silverman's line of thinking does explain one thing. It explains how atheists can say, “I used to be a Christian.”

By being a Christian, what people like Silverman mean is:

. I prayed – therefore I was a Christian.

. I got baptised – therefore I was a Christian.

. I read the Bible – therefore I was a Christian.

. I sang in the choir – therefore I was a Christian.

. I took the Sacraments – therefore I was a Christian.

. I was a Pastor / Priest – therefore I was a Christian.

. I taught Sunday School – therefore I was a Christian.

. I tried to be a good person – therefore I was a Christian

. I went to Church with my parents – therefore I was a Christian.

. I had a belief in Christian beliefs therefore I must have been a Christian.

The problem is, Jesus said that none of these things are deciding factors as to who is and who is not a follower or disciple of His, i.e. a Christian. While a follower of Jesus will do these things, doing these things do not a Christian make.

In reality, a Christian is someone who “has an intimate, healed and forgiven relationship with Jesus.

In reality we can have all of the rules and none of Jesus.

Therefore we have on the one hand people like John Loftus and Bart Erhman, who emanate, from a Spiritual perspective, a perfidious stench. It allows them to say with a straight face, “I was a Christian right up until I wasn't.” While on the other hand we have people like David Silverman, and Greta Christina who, if they realised the extent of the ignorance they spew regarding what it means to be a Christian they would hide their heads in shame.

. Being a Christian to these people has nothing to do with relationship and everything to do with behaviours.

. Being a Christian to these people has nothing to do with submission to one's Creator and everything to do with working and striving and following rules.

That's why Jesus warned, “Many will come to Me on the day of Judgement and say, “Jesus you are my Lord, and the proof is in all the things that I've done in Your name,” but I will say to them, “Get away from Me. I never knew you.””

Silverman is hell bent on attacking Christianity but he doesn't have a clue what or who defines a Christian. He and those like Him say that Christianity (the teachings of Jesus) is dangerous but He couldn't tell you one teaching of Jesus that is dangerous.

As I've said many times, “For me, to deny the existence of Jesus the Messiah would be like denying the existence of my wife or children. It can't be done.”

According to Jesus, a Christian is someone who knows Jesus and knows Him as Messiah. A follower of Jesus knows the reality of His existence to the point of acting upon what Jesus Christ taught about Himself, about life, death, sin, forgiveness and the resurrection (His and ours). 

This type of "doing" has nothing to do with guilt or shame or duty and everything to do with gratefulness and love.

Jesus taught that a follower of His is a person who is so certain in the reality of a living Christ that s/he depends upon Jesus alone for salvation. He taught that a disciple of His is someone who depends upon what Jesus calls His Word (The Bible), and upon His Spirit for guidance and strength in daily living.

Like Dawkins and ALL the other leaders in the atheist movement, while garrulous and stentorian to the extreme, they speak of things they know nothing about.
