Worse Than That?

I’m not going to look it up but there’s a line where Jesus says that a time is coming where the state of suffering and violence and warfare is going to reach a level that has never been seen in the world until then and will not be repeated afterward.

Worse than what was taking place when He walked the earth?

The New Testament was written at a time when sophisticated society watched violence, murder and mayhem for entertainment. Death and violence was a spectator sport.

The New Testament was written at a time when children, both male and female were sold into sexual slavery.

The New Testament was written at a time when cults of all forms and types were tricking basically good people into turning their backs on families and giving their all to the movement.

The New Testament was written at a time when most religious people wouldn’t accept Jesus and His claims to be God incarnate.

The New Testament was written at a time when religious zealots and terrorists were wreaking havoc upon civilization.

The New Testament was written at a time when those in government were abusing their power to gain riches for themselves.

The New Testament was written at a time when there were many spiritual people but very few truly devout, who truly loved others in an agape way.

The New Testament was written at a time when sexual indulgence and the fulfilment of self was promoted as good and right; homosexuality and paedophilia were accepted norms.

“But when the time had fully come, God sent His Son, born of a woman, born under the law, that we might receive the full rights of sons.” Galatians 4:4,5

At just the right time. Not too early. Not too late. Exactly as predetermined before the universe was even brought into existence, Jesus came to the world for the first time. He came when conditions were exactly as planned.

Nothing could derail God’s plan for the entrance of Himself in physical form into the material world.

“He will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for Him.” Hebrews 9:28

At just the right time. Not too early. Not too late. Exactly as predetermined before the universe was even brought into existence, Jesus is going to come again. When conditions are exactly right for His intervention, Jesus is going to return for those who have been waiting for Him. Jesus is going to come bearing the wounds that we inflicted upon Him.

For those who reject His offer of salvation, the wounds from His crucifixion will say,
“Here is what you did to Me.”
For those who accept His offer of salvation, the wounds from His crucifixion will say,
“Here is what I did for you.”
