That's Just Weird!

One of the curious things about atheists is that they seem to take pride in saying that what they believe today may very well be proven false tomorrow. It makes them practically giddy to live in a perpetual state of doubt. And in fact they think that everyone else should live in like manner.

But why would anyone live by and base your eternity on something you think is probably false?

Why not instead lean toward those conclusions that bear resemblance to reality?

I guess to some people, anything is better than acknowledging one's Creator.  

How Can A Loving God . . .

Have you noticed how people start the question, “How can a loving God,” and then they fill in the blank with the latest tragedy or loss or pain that they've experienced?

Been there.

Done that.

I've wondered how God, how a God of love (that's an important point) can sit and observe tragedy both in the lives of others and in my own life without intervening.

If you're an atheist, simply asking the above question is good enough to keep you from thinking any deeper. Like Richard Dawkins has said, “There's no point in asking questions of why, only questions of how.” That's because questions of why imply meaning and purpose and atheists most certainly don't want to go there. Simply throwing out the challenge is enough to keep atheists skimming the surface of life.  Yet the use of evil to bring about good, versus a passive observing of evil is how God works.

For example Jeremiah 29:10,11 – "This is what the Lord says: “You will be in Babylon for seventy years. But then I will come and do for you all the good things I have promised. For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for peace and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.”

God sat back and watched His chosen people be led away into captivity / slavery in Babylon. This was no safety-net slavery commanded by God and common to Hebrew society. Instead they were led away with hooks placed through their lower jaws. It was an experience so horrible and filled the captives with such rage that in one place the Psalmist fantasies about utterly destroying his captors and in doing so dashing Babylonian babyies heads against the rocks.

Notice how, from God's perspective (the only one that really counts) the terror and loss and pain does not happen in isolation. It is part of God's plan to bring good out of the horror.

No doubt, God allowing satan (notice how atheists never blame satan?) to wreak havoc in our lives is a difficult issue. Although, it's no more difficult than an atheist explaining the evolutionary purpose of pointless suffering. After all, we're no less barbaric today than humanity was in Babylonian times. Still and all, asking, “How could a loving God . . .?” is a good question.

An even better question, I think, is to ask the atheist, “So what do you think God should have done differently in order to prevent us from doing violence and harm to one another?

What should God have done differently so that He wouldn't have to sit back and watch us destroy this jewel of a planet?

What should God have done differently so that He wouldn't have to sit back and watch us allow 25,000 children to needlessly die – every single day?

What could God have done differently so that He wouldn't have had to sit back and watch us torture to death His own perfectly innocent Son?

What do you think? When God was creating this universe, what should He have done differently?

Exclusive, Intolerant, Divisive

Recognizing that brute force and the killing of 100's of millions is the only thing that stands any chance of driving religion from the public view, folks who are more reasonable than the leaders in the atheist movement advocate a different approach. Since their main goal is diminishing the influence of Christianity, the second best alternative is to  declare that all religions and philosophies are equally beneficial, or equally not beneficial depending on one's point of view.

The view that supports religious pluralism is in itself a religious belief system. It involves a very intricate description of spiritual reality. It involves a series of beliefs about Creator God (i.e. we can’t know Him or know about Him). It contains a dogmatic system of beliefs about God that seeks to persuade others to believe what it uniquely teaches. It is a system of religious belief that says that the world would be a better place if other beliefs were rejected (one religion is closer to the truth than others; all religions should be banned etc.), and people adhered exclusively to pluralism. These people say that no one should claim that their beliefs are more correct or superior to the belief's of anyone else yet pluralists say exactly that.

The view that supports the end of religion is in itself a religious belief system. It has many points of dogma, many and growing number of denominations, a growing list of codified moral behaviours in order to be “a good” atheist, shunning of those who refuse to adhere to the moral code, and even requests for money to keep radio and tv shows on the air, to keep afloat, and to help support the financial needs of the organizations leaders. Atheists denominations hold organized meet-ups with guest speakers, many hold small group Sunday morning meetings and they have Summer camp where kids are indoctrinated with atheist acceptable beliefs. The atheist view involves a very intricate description of spiritual reality. It involves a series of beliefs about Creator God (i.e. we can’t know Him or know about Him). Exclusive, Divisive, Intolerant

Does holding two different views mean that the people involved have to be divisive and intolerant? Well, if one of them is me, then ya, that would seem to be the case. But that isn’t because of the view that I hold. It’s because I’m a jerk. Yet many people say that Christianity is in and of itself divisive and intolerant.

Jesus died and rose again, thereby defeating sin's most perplexing consequence, and He did so for every single person who's ever existed. What more, Jesus invites every single person who's ever existed to take Him up on His offer of forgiveness for their sins. Because of that, Christianity – the religion based upon the teachings of Jesus the Christ can hardly own the accusation of being intolerant or not inclusive. Rather than complain that Jesus is the only way back to a healed and forgiven relationship with our Creator, we should be happy that there is ANY way back.

Beyond that, the fact is, every single person on earth holds a view on religion that is exclusive, even if that view is irreligious or anti religious. Everyone’s truth claims are based on fundamentals. Even the person who says “There is no truth,” is saying, “And that’s the truth.”

Jesus, the King of king, Lord of lords, true God, Creator of everything that is seen and unseen stepped down from His throne in Heaven, came to earth as a human being and gave His life so that His enemies might live forever in Paradise. He gave His life for you and for me and allowed humanity to do its absolute worst to Him so that our sin and rebellion against Him could be forgiven.

“All who come to Him will be saved.”

“Anyone who believes in Him will not be condemned.”

Jesus forgave the very people who were killing Him. He took the lowest position in society at that time and washed the feet of the man who He knew was about to betray Him. Christ will include anyone who is willing to place h/her trust exclusively in what Jesus did for that person while He was on the cross. So inclusive is Christianity that because Jesus died for His enemies, He asks us to be willing to live for our enemies by loving them as He loves us – i.e sacrificially.

Christianity can only be intolerant to the degree that the message of Jesus is ignored. Some day evil and all those on the side of evil will be defeated and removed from God's Kingdom. Until we do something to rectify the situation, we stand condemned. It's up to us to receive the offer of freedom.

The cure for intolerance is for all of us to be aware that everyone lives by the belief that s/he is right on many, many issues. Global warming, vegetarianism, which type of vehicle to drive, where to volunteer, whether to go to Church or not, which school to attend, what type of clothing to wear, what part of the city to live in, and on and on. Even those who tell themselves and anyone else who will listen, “I know there is no absolute truth,” feels superior to those who disagree.

The Truth that Christians claim to have access to is not their own truth but the Truth of someone who came, “Not to be served but to serve, and to lay down My life for many.”

Atheists seem to be telling Christians that respect and tolerance means never talking to others about that which Christians consider the most important thing in life. Yet if we Christians claim to love others, then we can't NOT talk to others about Jesus' offer of forgiveness.

Ideas do not lead to intolerance.

Humans lead to intolerance.

Neither religion nor the lack of religion poisons everything.

Humans poison everything.

The degree of human corruption is so great that even the purest philosophy to ever exist cannot wholly remove it from our character. That will only be accomplished when our Creator and Saviour arrives for the second time to make things right by removing all wrong.

Faith in Humankind

 How the materialists like to jeer at the naive faith of the Christian. Of course, from our side of the fence, we Christians stand amazed at the materialist intellectual's gullible willingness to believe anything but God. To take partial evidence and draw conclusions that match their desires seems as easy to an atheist as falling off a piece of cake ;-)

The biggest fable that materialists believe is that humans can create a civilization of equality, peace, love, truth, and progress in love toward one another.

Today's neo Stalinists are identical to those in 20^th century Russia. It was those who prided themselves on being unencumbered with superstition, those who viewed religion as a feature of the childhood, who fell for this fable in the tens of thousand. The more educated they were, the more likely they were to be fooled. 

It's no different today.

While all of these atheists are sure there is no heaven, the reality of the world around us is causing a few to fear that there may be no earthly paradise either. 

Most however continue ignore all previous failures at human utopia building.

Belief in this fable may not offer modern day followers of Trotsky great happiness, but their faith does allow them to feel superior to their neighbours. They continue to slander the kingdom of heaven while praising the fanciful utopias of man.

Did this scientific, anti God societal experiment produce good people. Did atheists in Russia create a good society? No one that I know thinks so. Instead, Russia has gone from a police state in the 20^th century to a state or organised crime in the 21^st.

Today's North American atheists point to semi secular nations (now known for organised drug distribution, prostitution and at-home delivery of death), not even one generation removed from a Christian base, and think that this is what an atheist utopia would resemble, sans Christianity of course. Not so. Any nation without a majority of Christian citizens, without a Christian moral bases for its laws and leaders to follow will – must – become totalitarian to keep it from sliding into anarchy and self-destruction.

Tragedy At Christmas

Almost two weeks ago 20 children were gunned down at a school in the United States. Six and seven years old. Hardly more than babies to their parents. Come and gone so quickly. And at Christmas time! In all likelihood their gifts will have been bought. Preparations to give them an enjoyable holiday from school will have been in place.

Tragic hardly describes the scene. Heart wrenching at any time of year, but now? Just before the holidays? Such grief. Such sorrow.

Change of scene: Civil War in Yugoslavia. Soldiers enter a town at Christmas time. They round up all the men; old men, young men; all the males who didn't have time to hide. They were taken to the edge of town. Half of the men were shot outright. The other half were herded into a barn and burned to death. Can you imagine the grieving that took place in that village that Christmas? Parents, wives, children all lost someone important to them. At Christmas!

Change of scene: A small village; perhaps six hundred people – tops. Jesus and His parents had lived there for the last year and a half.

A warning comes.

Flight in the night.

Soldiers arrive, scouring the town and surrounding area for males two years old and younger. Perhaps as many as 20 children were murdered in an attempt to end the life of the Prince of Peace. Parents grieving for their children.

Jesus came to earth, a planet that's been staggering from violence since the first humans existed.

Jesus came to bring us peace, inner peace.

And while peace is such a rare commodity, only a few accept the offer.

Don't be a fool.

Now is the time of God's offer of salvation. Now is the time to accept.

David Silverman Rips a Page

Atheist leader David Silverman seems to not care that his tactics and those of his fanatical followers are blatantly copying the very tactics of Stalin, Trotsky and Lenin. The attempts of American Atheists to rid the West of Christianity are like watching a blow by blow accounting of atheist Russia hardly a generation ago. Silverman and Greta Xtina and company are using the same language, working towards that same dreams, and appealing to the same type of people as Russian atheists did in the 20th century.

For example Russian atheist leaders:

. Attempted to create a society that was the opposite of a faith in God. Rather it was a faith in Human ability. Ring a bell Hugo?

. Told children and adults that what science couldn't explain didn't need explaining.

. Schools were totally secularized. Religious teaching of any kind was forbidden.

. Outlawed any teaching of Christianity to children under 18 – not in the school, not in Church, not in the home, not anywhere. It was considered abusive.

. Taught children that science can do what God cannot

. Held conferences where the key topic was how to combat religion.

. Launched advertising campaigns of anti-religious propaganda

. Established “Unions of the godless”

. Mocked Christmas and Easter as having been stolen from pagan holidays

. Changed “Christian” holidays into secular holidays

. Put mocking images and cartoons of Jesus in News Papers

. Provoked Church Leaders in the hopes that they would in some way retaliate.

. Made a concerted effort to erase any belief in a supernatural interpretation of life.

. Brought about reforms that decreed that the word “God” must in the future be spelled with a lower case “g”.

. The sale of Christmas trees was strictly forbidden. This is and has been a common theme of atheist dictators everywhere they have existed. Just as Silverman and atheists in the United States are using the Red Cross and Boy Scouts of America as excuses to do the same.

. Changed the Christmas celebration to a wholly secular celebration

. Prayer in all public places and by all public officials was outlawed

. Christianity was to be reduced to a private and secret matter.

. To preserve atheist authority, childhood indoctrination was of utmost importance to Silverman – er, I mean to the Stalin, Trotsky and Lenin atheists.

. Churches could not use their property for any purposes but religious. They could not give charity to outsiders. If there had been a highschool football team eating a pre game meal in a Church, Russian atheists would have stopped it.

. Religious symbols were banned from public buildings.

. Religious processions and open-air services were banned.

. Private religious schools and all public funding of private religious schools was ended.

. Teachers were instructed to teach children that God and Christ were equivalent to mythological figures, ghosts and fairies.

. People should be told that Churches were hoarding wealth instead of giving it to the poor.

. Russian atheist leaders never relented in trying to drive the very idea of God out of the public's mind.

. They never relented to implementing and wholly materialist, scientistic consciousness in the minds of society.

. They knew that if they could control the schools and youth movements, they could get rid of unwanted beliefs in a generation or two.

. Atheist leaders taught that those who refused to allow the morals and faith of their children to be undermined were actually abusing the minds of their children.

Sound familiar? Will atheists in North America follow their leaders like sheeple into another atheist social experiment?

And as Greta xtina says, “We’re working towards a world where it (religion) no longer exists.”

The self-delusion that the progress of man-kind simply needs to have the right leader to bring about a utopia on earth, an atheist driven utopia on earth, continues to this day. There is plenty of evidence to suggest that a human created utopia will never happen. 
Jesus the Christ and His message stands firmly in the road of the atheist wish-fulfilment and THAT is what atheists cannot and will not tolerate.

Jesus came to counter our culture. He came to right our faulty thinking. He came to earth in the lowliest form to lead us home, to a home free from totalitarian rule, to a home free from the concept of might makes right.

Why Do Atheists Hide Their Freedom?

Oh sure, there was that survey that showed atheists felt much less guilt than do Christians while engaging in casual sex with serial partners or prostitutes. But generally, atheists are surprisingly quite about the freedom from moral restraints that they experience. One sect of atheists talk about Freedom from Religion, but you rarely hear them tell of the benefits that freedom brings to them.

I do remember one atheist blog where the Header said something like, “So long Christianity and thanks for all the guilt.” That sounds like he's experiencing a breath of fresh air, so to speak. This would be especially true for atheists who live in countries where Christianity still exerts significant influence. For that is where the atheist's “freedom” should shine most clearly. They are, after all supposedly free from any objective or absolute moral bond, while their Christian neighbours are not. 

So why are atheists so quite about this? Usually when people experience liberation of any type there is dancing in the streets.

Strangely enough atheists rarely celebrate this freedom and in fact there is almost a state of anarchy among the atheist ranks as one group attempts to impose its own set of moral strictures on the rest of the atheist population. There's confusion and a lack of direction. It's as though as long as God Himself exists there isn't any peace in the atheist's life.

If atheists are happy about their freedom from God-given-morality they sure aren't happy in a way that the public would be able to notice. After all, wouldn't this be a huge selling point, especially at a time in history when playing the numbers game (“We've got more than you do.”) seems so very important to atheists?

Surely atheists understand that if Jesus never came to earth to accomplish what He said He would accomplish, then they are the freest people on the planet.

They do understand this - don't they?

Or:

. Could it be that if they admit how happy they are that in atheist-world objective right and wrong don't exist, in reality they are really admitting their motive for rejecting Creator God?

. Could it be that they fear exposing that their denial of God's existence is not free from personal bias or desire?

. Could it be that they'll be forced to admit that the scientific method is not the driving force for pretending that Creator God does not exist? That instead they simply want to be free to do what they want?

Thankfully, in reality, Jesus, God the Son came to earth not to condemn us but to bring us the truth of His existence and the forgiveness of our sins. This is the Truth that sets us free.

An Atheist's Faith

An atheist's faith in the myth of human progress is every bit as strong as the Christian's faith in the existence of Creator God.

Despite a tremendous preponderance of evidence showing that the atheist's faith in the human ability to heal ourselves is unfounded, that faith persists in greater numbers of delusional men and women every year. 

Despite the deepest wishes of atheists, there has not been one iota of change in human nature since our thoughts and behaviours were first recorded.

Failure to recognize this fact allows the atheist's faith in the human ability to solve our financial, social and environmental problems to continue unabated. Sadly that faith is based upon a theory that leaves out THE key factor for ensuring our ultimate failure to make any meaningful progress. 

Human nature – sinful human nature – a nature so corrupt that the very institutions that atheists say will protect us from repeating past financial collapse are the same institutions that have once again brought us to the brink. Only dumb luck caught the perpetrators in time - maybe. An inherent  selfishness may yet push us over the edge.

The atheist's faith in materialist rationalism is ill founded to say the least, yet where else is an atheist to look for help? 

Thankfully, Jesus came to earth to save us from ourselves. 

There is reason for hope.

There is personal progress to be experienced.

Sheldon Cooper's Heidegger

On the show The Big Bang Theory, Sheldon Cooper admires, among other scientists Martin Heidegger. An interesting observation that Heidegger made (as an unapologetic supporter of Hitler I might add) is as follows:

“The Fuhrer, and he alone, is the present and future law of Germany.”

On atheism, Heidegger was right.

On atheism, might makes right and on atheism Hitler was right until an even greater power put him out of business. This greater power brought in a new perspective of right and wrong.

On atheism, the concept of right and wrong belongs to the individual, subject to sanctions or approval from one's society. That's because in a secular world the greater power always subjugates the lessor power. You might say you have value and your neighbour might say you have no value. In an atheist world, your neighbour is just as correct as you are. All things being equal, in atheist-world, one person's moral code is as good as the next.

Of course atheists will tell you that the basis of our moral code comes from enlightened self-interest but the result is the same – what I want is right for me. Or as atheists are infamous for singing, “Anything that feels this right can't be wrong.” 

Pfft!

This is the freedom that atheists imagine they will attain by rejecting the objective moral code of the Bible, by rejecting the objective moral code of Creator God. 

On atheism, moral values, duties and obligations are decided preferably by the self, slightly less preferably by society, and less preferably still by those in power – as with Hitler. Unless you happen to be the one with the most power.

Hitler too believed that he was the definer of right and wrong. With no belief in a power greater than himself, there would be no future accounting for his actions. He wasn't entirely wrong. Whether it's Hitler the pagan, or Heidegger the atheist, this type of belief presents a form of freedom to the individual.

If atheists know that there will never be an accounting for their behaviours, as long as they don't get caught by human authorities, they certainly have the perception of freedom. The problem of course is that this same freedom is available to the worst among us. We see this in Columbia and Mexico as Drug Cartels make governments look impotent. However, there is an even greater problem that strikes much closer to home. On a personal level:

. Where is freedom to openly love when you can't trust that your spouse will believe in marital fidelity for the length of your marriage? After all, on atheism right and wrong changes with the ebb and flow of one's thoughts.

. Where is freedom to live when you can't trust that your mother will still choose life after you're conceived? After all, on atheism right and wrong changes with the ebb and flow of one's thoughts.

. Where is freedom to trust your business partner when you can't be assured s/he will continue believing that stealing is wrong? After all, on atheism right and wrong changes with the ebb and flow of one's thoughts.

. Where is freedom to live honestly and with integrity when you can't trust those who are in power to continue to work for your benefit? After all, on atheism right and wrong changes with the ebb and flow of one's thoughts.

I'll allow atheists to worry about the world they are creating. I cannot be touched by such foolishness.

Jesus came to bring us a different type of freedom, the freedom from the tyranny of self, freedom from the tyranny and power of sin.

What kind of a fool would reject the offer of that freedom?

Psalm 1:1 Blessed is the person who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked or stand in the way of sinners or sit in the seat of mockers, but his delight is in the law of the Lord and on his law he meditates day and night. Atheists accuse humans of creating gods in our own image. Assuming they're correct, we see that this is nowhere more true than in the atheist community itself.

“[The Christian God is] “Arguably the most unpleasant character in all fiction: jealous and proud of it, a petty, unjust, unforgiving control freak; a vindictive, bloodthirsty ethnic cleanser; a misogynist, homophobic, racist, infanticidal, genocidal, filicidal, pestilential, megalomaniacal, sadomasochistic, capriciously malevolent bully.”

We are usually repelled by the characteristics we think we see in others that we dimly recognize in ourselves. This is Richard Dawkins' perspective of Creator God.

In reality:

Creator God reveals Himself to us.

Through the Bible He describes Himself.

Through Creation we can intuit some of His attributes.

Through Jesus the Christ, Creator God displays His character in as clear a manner as is possible.

- He displays power over nature

- He displays power over sickness

- He displays power over death

- He displays power over sin

- He displays love and mercy and patience and forgiveness

If you want to know what your Creator is like, learn about Jesus who said, “If you have seen Me, you have seen Creator God,” and “I and Creator God are one and the same.”

All of this goes over the heads of atheists. The laziest of the bunch just say, “Jesus never existed,” and believe, they really believe that they've solved their issue of accountability before God.

Atheists do in fact invent god's in their own image. The gods that atheists invent are always virtually powerless, impotent and incapable of love. They are in fact gods that are unworthy of our worship.

Thankfully at this time of year we celebrate the arrival on earth of our Lord, our Saviour, our Creator. He came not to condemn us but to show us the way Home.

Don't be such a fool that you turn away from the offer of an eternity.

The Trees

The fact is, something IS being said. 

Whether it's a leaf or a Quasar or a stem cell or a memory or a mathematically precise, life supporting, moral universe, what we observe is a Creator saying to us, “Here I Am.” 

Humans – You Just Gotta Love em

The power and influence of American culture reaches around the globe. That is no less true north of the 49^th.

We in Canada have no Constitutional statement like the one upon which atheists in the United States have performed a desultory operation. Nevertheless, thoughts on the Separation of Church and State have crept into our own society, into our own Elementary School. Multiculturalism (which is a good thing if you know where the dangers lurk) has caused us to consider what life might be like for others.

Canadians of course aren't nearly as litigious as Americans. No one is. Atheists in the U.S. drive Jesus the Christ from schools and any other public sphere by brute force. They'll even pretend to be sick or suicidal if they have to. Anything to remove the mention of their Creator from their line of sight. We in the Great White North put Jesus in a back room and out of sight not because we fear being sued, but because we're trying to be nice. Here's an example.

In the school that my children attend, Christianity has been traditionally and heavily promoted. That was the case until about ten years ago. Our community of ~ 1,800 is 15 minutes from a city of 250,000. It's 10 minutes away from a city of 5,000, and it's five minutes away from a city of 7,000. The building of houses is taking place at a furious pace as new commuters move into a place they believe will be safer for their family.

Of course many if not most of these “new” people would tick off, “no religion” on the now very popular polls that are tracking who has the most people on their team. Having the most people is supposed to mean something important although I'm not sure anyone could describe exactly what that important thing is.

Even though the current school children are still highly represented as coming from Christian homes, the decision has been made to do everything possible to avoid conflict or hurt feelings. In truth, a staff of teachers who 15 - 20 years ago almost all used to willingly attend a mid-day Bible study are now made up of mostly pagans and atheists. Therefore, if the account of Christ's birth is to be celebrated (Christmas), Kwanzaa and Hanukkah and Santa must also be celebrated.

This is where the humour begins. Besides two “Christian” women who feel compelled to follow Jewish dietary laws, there is not a Jewish person in town and by extension there are no Jewish children attending the elementary or high-school. Nor, I assure you is there anyone who is deeply into Kwanzaa.

What's my point? Good question.

When Kwanzaa and Hanukkah were introduced about six years ago, celebrating the birth of Jesus - the Christ - the reason that Christmas in the form that atheists cannot tolerate, was also part of the festivities. However each year there was an incremental decline in the focus on Jesus that was directly proportional to the increase in a focus on Kwanzaa, Hanukkah and oh, ya, I forgot, Santa.

This year?

We've got Kwanzaa and Hanukkah and Santa and nothing of the birth of Messiah Jesus.

Humans. We are a funny lot. Particularly we Christians. Gullible to the core. The organizers of these movements know the endgame well in advance. They coerce for same sex relations and as soon as that's in, every other type of sexual coupling is thrown in for good measure. That was the plan all along. We Christians look at that and wonder, “How did that happen?” We say, “Sure Jesus can share the celebration of His birth with other beliefs,” and whoosh, Jesus is gone and the celebration of everyone and anyone is in.

Americans and Guns – Surreal

Living in a country where 100,000+ die from “peace-time” gun violence every year, you'd think it would be an easy decision to make – get rid of the guns and fewer people will be killed by guns.

There is no point in going over all the pro and con arguments.

The bottom line is, until the American public changes from:

Unless you support the status quo on gun-ownership I will not vote for you

To

Unless you support strict gun-control I will not vote for you 

nothing will change. 

Peace on Earth to . . .

One of the most misquoted verses in the Bible is found in Luke chapter two. It's the account of Jesus' birth being announced to the Shepherds. The way we most often hear this verse is,

“Glory to God in the highest and peace on earth to everyone.”

Sounds nice. Right?

The problem of course is that if you look around you'll notice that we as a people are a long, long way from peace, both in the world and within ourselves.

Some people say this is a sign of the Bible being wrong.

Well, I really can't help those people, other than to point out that this is not what the verse says. The verse actually says,

"Glory to God in the highest and on earth, peace to all those upon whom His favour rests," or as some translations put it, "Peace on earth to all those who are pleasing to Him."

That's pretty important I think. The peace of God is never promised to all people. And it is never promised as something external. It is never promised as some type of freedom from violence or difficulty. As Christians, we were never promised nor do we expect to receive freedom from life's pain and suffering. We were never promised freedom from the storms of life. However, we do receive peace in the midst of the storm.

To remain an enemy of God is to be unfamiliar with inner peace.

Who would choose something like that?

This is essentially the long discredited Steady State model which is still upheld by modern atheists since the only alternative is Creator God.

Mind Bending Ignorance

When you read that, does your jaw drop just a little? As you lean a little bit towards the computer screen does your brow furrow and your mind go, “What? Most Christians are atheists?” 

And this meretricious observation comes via Times Square, from a Bright who is  American atheist's Leader - representing 5% of the population. What kind of logic must less able atheist thinkers possess? 

I have no doubt that there are many, many people who are “trapped” for whatever reason in the beliefs of their parents; children of religious parents and children of atheist parents. But to label someone a Christian because h/her parents went to Church or because the parents were genuine followers of Jesus? Seriously?

As the line goes, “God does not have grandchildren.”

Silverman's line of thinking does explain one thing. It explains how atheists can say, “I used to be a Christian.”

By being a Christian, what people like Silverman mean is:

. I prayed – therefore I was a Christian.

. I got baptised – therefore I was a Christian.

. I read the Bible – therefore I was a Christian.

. I sang in the choir – therefore I was a Christian.

. I took the Sacraments – therefore I was a Christian.

. I was a Pastor / Priest – therefore I was a Christian.

. I taught Sunday School – therefore I was a Christian.

. I tried to be a good person – therefore I was a Christian

. I went to Church with my parents – therefore I was a Christian.

. I had a belief in Christian beliefs therefore I must have been a Christian.

The problem is, Jesus said that none of these things are deciding factors as to who is and who is not a follower or disciple of His, i.e. a Christian. While a follower of Jesus will do these things, doing these things do not a Christian make.

In reality, a Christian is someone who “has an intimate, healed and forgiven relationship with Jesus.

In reality we can have all of the rules and none of Jesus.

Therefore we have on the one hand people like John Loftus and Bart Erhman, who emanate, from a Spiritual perspective, a perfidious stench. It allows them to say with a straight face, “I was a Christian right up until I wasn't.” While on the other hand we have people like David Silverman, and Greta Christina who, if they realised the extent of the ignorance they spew regarding what it means to be a Christian they would hide their heads in shame.

. Being a Christian to these people has nothing to do with relationship and everything to do with behaviours.

. Being a Christian to these people has nothing to do with submission to one's Creator and everything to do with working and striving and following rules.

That's why Jesus warned, “Many will come to Me on the day of Judgement and say, “Jesus you are my Lord, and the proof is in all the things that I've done in Your name,” but I will say to them, “Get away from Me. I never knew you.””

Silverman is hell bent on attacking Christianity but he doesn't have a clue what or who defines a Christian. He and those like Him say that Christianity (the teachings of Jesus) is dangerous but He couldn't tell you one teaching of Jesus that is dangerous.

As I've said many times, “For me, to deny the existence of Jesus the Messiah would be like denying the existence of my wife or children. It can't be done.”

According to Jesus, a Christian is someone who knows Jesus and knows Him as Messiah. A follower of Jesus knows the reality of His existence to the point of acting upon what Jesus Christ taught about Himself, about life, death, sin, forgiveness and the resurrection (His and ours). 

This type of "doing" has nothing to do with guilt or shame or duty and everything to do with gratefulness and love.

Jesus taught that a follower of His is a person who is so certain in the reality of a living Christ that s/he depends upon Jesus alone for salvation. He taught that a disciple of His is someone who depends upon what Jesus calls His Word (The Bible), and upon His Spirit for guidance and strength in daily living.

Like Dawkins and ALL the other leaders in the atheist movement, while garrulous and stentorian to the extreme, they speak of things they know nothing about.
