Human Doing? Or Human Being?

We are because one odd group of fishes had a peculiar fin anatomy that could transform into legs for terrestrial creatures; because the earth never froze entirely during an ice age; because a small and tenuous species, arising in Africa a quarter of million years ago, had managed, so far, to survive by hook and by crook. We may yearn for a “higher” answer – but none exists.”
Stephen J. Gould

Do you have significance? Does your life have meaning? Purpose? And if so – why?
Is it because of your profession?
Is it because of your education?
How about because of how wealthy you are?
Or how about because of how attractive you are?
Maybe you're a very “good” person who helps people all day every day?
Do you draw admiration because of the vehicles you own or the size of the house you live in?
Do you get fleeting feelings of love because you give your body away?
Do you complain (with pride) at how busy you are? Is who you are based upon what you do? So you have to do a lot in order to not lose your significance, your value, your worth, your sense of belonging?

Are you a human-doing instead of a human-being?

And what would happen if you weren't beautiful or if you couldn't learn? What would happen if you couldn't work at all, let alone stay busy? Is the society that you're creating one where you would still have significance if you weren't athletic or wealthy or intelligent? Would you have any value at all if you were poor and wretched, uneducated or suffered from a mental illness?

Claiming themselves to be wise without God, they became utter fools instead.” Romans 1:22

If we do not acknowledge our role as part of God's Creation, the only answer we can give to, “What is the meaning of life?” is, “I don't know. I just make it up as I go.” How could it be anything else? For on atheism, Gould is right. You come from nothing and you're going nowhere.

Tragic, tragic, tragic is the world-view of atheism. In reality, we have significance not because of who we are, but because of Whose we are.

You are the special creation of a good and all-powerful God. You are created in His image, with capacities to think, feel, and worship that set you above all other life forms. You differ from the animals not simply in degree but in kind. Not only is your kind unique, but you are unique among your kind.” Randy Alcorn.

Creator God brought us into existence and gave us lives of ultimate meaning, context and purpose. For those who are now part of the family of God:
Tragedy is shown to have meaning.
Suffering takes place within the context of God’s plan for the individual.
Loss and pain are not a waste of time, but have a purpose above and beyond our own existence.

The Spirit of the living God is a presence that is palpable, tangible, real. It’s God’s Spirit that comforts. He counsels. He corrects and He guides. The Spirit of the living God increases our desire to worship Creator God regardless of circumstance.

What kind of person would push away such a healed and forgiven relationship with h/her Creator? Don't listen to atheists.
Be who you were created to be!
