  1. Awesome, you finally understood that discussing evolution is not (only) dependent on religious belief. Great achievement!

    Next post, why not list theists that believe ID is wrong?

  2. The point is not to be able to name them; the point is that you should be honest enough to say: yes, it's true, acceptance of the Theory of Evolution does not depend on one's religion.

    All 4 types exist:
    - Belief in god and evolution
    - Belief in god but not evolution
    - No belief in god nor evolution
    - No belief in god but belief in evolution

    Now, if you really wanted examples, you could find them yourself by Googling obviously, but here's a few examples:

    - Francis Collins Denies Intelligent Design
    - Proponents of Theistic evolution
    - Clergy members who use NCSE's material

    ...oh and I am engaged to one too, but ya you don't know her :-)

  3. "engaged"

    Hey congratulations! Have you set a date yet?

    Hugo, are you suggesting that if a person believes in evolution they can't believe in God or ID?

    That of course is preposterous, for these reasons.
    . Either matter is eternal (both science and philosophy have shown that it can’t be) OR
    . The immaterial cause of matter is eternal. It's one or the other, and it's not the former.

    . The cause of the universe coming into existence cannot be material / natural / scientific because at one point matter, energy and the laws that govern matter and energy did not exist in the space / time continuum.

    This is intimately tied to evolution because:
    1. We have a material universe, which could not have had a natural / scientific cause;

    2. We have literally dozens of “just so” (Finely Tuned) constants and quantities that were put in place at Planck Time (10^-43 seconds), which also could not have had a natural / scientific cause;

    3. We have formulated, coded, specified information that allows for the ability to replicate, being in the first replicating cell, which matter has never been shown to develop from non living matter or without Intelligent Design.

    4. Without something from outside of nature bringing these things into being, THERE WOULDN'T BE ANY LIFE TO EVOLVE - in fact without the second point, there wouldn’t be any universe at all.

    Thanks!
    We have a range; somewhere in January/February 2014, so still plenty of time ahead... They need to verify their calendars because Bengali Hindu weddings happen at certain times according to the lunar cycles, so it varies a bit each year.

    Hugo, are you suggesting that if a person believes in evolution they can't believe in God or ID?

    Exact opposite. It's strange that you even ask...

    That's why I wrote that all 4 types exist:
    - Belief in god and evolution
    - Belief in god but not evolution
    - No belief in god nor evolution
    - No belief in god but belief in evolution

    The point is that one can believe in god (in an intelligent creator of the universe) AND understand that ID, from a scientific perspective, is wrong.

    It was my impression that you disagree with that and keep insisting that Atheism and Evolution go hand in hand...
