Childhood is like being really drunk. Everybody remembers what you did except you.

The Chief of Sinners

That’s what Paul called himself. True enough, those who torture and kill Christians - or anyone - have a lot to answer for.
But look what God does! He turns us into trophies of grace.

The fact is, it doesn’t matter what we’ve been like, for lost is lost is lost. One sin or a zillion, we all fall short of God’s standard for us. We cannot be good enough to be good enough for heaven.
And that is why Jesus came - to save us from ourselves.
If we let Him, Jesus makes us abhor all sin and long for God’s will in our lives.
What kind of person would reject that offer?
Who would think that s/he doesn't need forgiveness, mercy and love?

If You've Had Kids . . .

If you've had kids, you've heard these rules of life:

If I like it - It’s mine

If it’s in my hand - It’s mine

If I can take it from you - It’s mine

If I had it yesterday - It’s mine

If it is mine - It must never be allowed to be yours

If I’m building something - All the pieces are mine

If it looks just like mine - It’s mine

If I saw it first - It’s mine

If I was thinking about playing with it - It’s mine

If you put it down - It’s mine

If it’s broken - It’s yours

Atheists and God’s Character

Over the years I’ve heard numerous atheists say that even if God is real, we can’t know what He is like. That of course shows a profound ignorance.
If you have seen Me, you have seen the Father.”Jesus
"I and the Father are one."Jesus
"Before Abraham was, I Am." Jesus

If we want to know what God is like, all we have to do is study the character of Jesus.
If we want to know about God’s holiness, all we have to do is study the character of Jesus.
If we want to know about God's wrath , all we have to do is study the character of Jesus.
If we want to know what matters most to God, all we have to do is study the character of Jesus.
If we want to know about the forgiveness of God, all we have to do is study the character of Jesus.
If we want to know about the love of God, all we have to do is study the character of Jesus.

Of course atheists never allow themselves to read the New Testament so I suppose we shouldn't be too surprised that they don't know this.

The root of most atheism is not argument but attitude, not intellection but feeling, not the love of truth but the fear of truth...The point —that atheism's origin is not intellectual but volitional and moral -follows from Christ's promise that all who seek (God) will find (him). For unless this promise is a lie, and Christ a liar, there can be only two causes for not having found God, that is, for unbelief: (I) not seeking him, or (2) time. For eventually, however long the delay, all seekers find.
Peter Kreeft

We know this to be true because atheists existed long, long before there was anything that they now call evidence. In fact there is no evidence “for” atheism. It's simply a chosen belief to deny any power greater than self.

People Are Good?

In 2010, 20 million men, women and children died of starvation. In the same year the movie, “Sex In The City 2” made 228 million dollars opening weekend.

Atheists wonder why God has any reason to be angry with us. Atheists tell us that if we just had more education, greater wealth and depended entirely on advances in science then our social ills would be healed, because people are basically good at heart.

20 million preventable deaths.
Good at heart - hmmm

This year, just in North America, we’ll spend:
. 22 billion renting videos and DVD’s,
. 95 billion on Lawn and garden supplies,
. 389 billion on Restaurant meals,
. 24 billion on salty snacks,
. 16 billion on chocolate,
. 5 billion a year on anti-aging creams,
. 10 billion on mother’s day flowers and gifts,
. 30 billion on pornography,
. 50 billion a year on lotteries and another
. 50 billion on illegal gambling.
Perhaps our problems lie a bit deeper than what advances in science and education can address.

Yesterday, 25,000 children died of preventable causes. It'll be the same today and tomorrow. We “good” people could put an end to it, but we don't.

We in North America think we're pretty awesome. Why, we save whales that swim up on the beach. We make it almost an expectation for mothers to kill their children when pregnancy comes at an inconvenient time. We tolerate almost everything. Oh my but we're tolerant. Those things make us good.

The kids?

Oh, ya, the starving kids. Well, it's probably their own fault in some way or another. Besides, we've barely got enough money to take care of our own family. We need another computer and our fourth pair of shoes and . . .

I am concerned for the poor, but more so for you. I know not what Christ will say to you in the great day. I fear there are many hearing me who may know well that they are not Christians, because they do not love to give to the poor. To give largely and liberally to the poor, not grudging at all, requires a new heart; an old heart would rather part with its life-blood than its money. Oh people! Enjoy your money; make the most of it; give none away; enjoy it quickly for I can tell you, you will be beggars throughout eternity.”
Robert Murray M'Cheyne 1843 – died at 29 – speaking of the mercy and generosity of Christians as the evidence that they were indeed Christians.

Atheists and Blind Faith

Atheists say, “You’re the one making the claim that a Creator exists, so the onus is on you to prove it.”
The atheist, at this point, cannot step out of the ring and declare, “Game over.”
Why not? Because the person who is denying the existence of a Creator is making the more astounding claim. The atheist is making the claim that there is proof that this universe came into existence, out of literally nothing material or natural, purely by natural or material means.
THAT is an extraordinary claim that requires extraordinary evidence!
Not only do we have a universe that could not have had a natural / material cause, because nothing natural / material existed until Big Bang, but all of the constants and quantities that allow for the existence of the universe and life itself were in place at Planck time 10^43 second. And neither they nor the laws of physics could have had a natural / material cause.
We know from consistent observation, verification and testing that anything that begins to exist comes into being because of a cause outside of itself. There are no known exceptions. I suggest that the onus of proof is on both people, the one who makes the case for a Creator and those who makes a case for materialism.
Christians have a universe for our evidence.
The atheist has nothing but blind faith.

I freed Germany from the stupid and degrading fallacies of conscience and morality.”
Adolf Hitler

Human Doing? Or Human Being?

We are because one odd group of fishes had a peculiar fin anatomy that could transform into legs for terrestrial creatures; because the earth never froze entirely during an ice age; because a small and tenuous species, arising in Africa a quarter of million years ago, had managed, so far, to survive by hook and by crook. We may yearn for a “higher” answer – but none exists.”
Stephen J. Gould

Do you have significance? Does your life have meaning? Purpose? And if so – why?
Is it because of your profession?
Is it because of your education?
How about because of how wealthy you are?
Or how about because of how attractive you are?
Maybe you're a very “good” person who helps people all day every day?
Do you draw admiration because of the vehicles you own or the size of the house you live in?
Do you get fleeting feelings of love because you give your body away?
Do you complain (with pride) at how busy you are? Is who you are based upon what you do? So you have to do a lot in order to not lose your significance, your value, your worth, your sense of belonging?

Are you a human-doing instead of a human-being?

And what would happen if you weren't beautiful or if you couldn't learn? What would happen if you couldn't work at all, let alone stay busy? Is the society that you're creating one where you would still have significance if you weren't athletic or wealthy or intelligent? Would you have any value at all if you were poor and wretched, uneducated or suffered from a mental illness?

Claiming themselves to be wise without God, they became utter fools instead.” Romans 1:22

If we do not acknowledge our role as part of God's Creation, the only answer we can give to, “What is the meaning of life?” is, “I don't know. I just make it up as I go.” How could it be anything else? For on atheism, Gould is right. You come from nothing and you're going nowhere.

Tragic, tragic, tragic is the world-view of atheism. In reality, we have significance not because of who we are, but because of Whose we are.

You are the special creation of a good and all-powerful God. You are created in His image, with capacities to think, feel, and worship that set you above all other life forms. You differ from the animals not simply in degree but in kind. Not only is your kind unique, but you are unique among your kind.” Randy Alcorn.

Creator God brought us into existence and gave us lives of ultimate meaning, context and purpose. For those who are now part of the family of God:
Tragedy is shown to have meaning.
Suffering takes place within the context of God’s plan for the individual.
Loss and pain are not a waste of time, but have a purpose above and beyond our own existence.

The Spirit of the living God is a presence that is palpable, tangible, real. It’s God’s Spirit that comforts. He counsels. He corrects and He guides. The Spirit of the living God increases our desire to worship Creator God regardless of circumstance.

What kind of person would push away such a healed and forgiven relationship with h/her Creator? Don't listen to atheists.
Be who you were created to be!

Why Would Natural Selection Do That?

Natural selection is the gradual, non-random process by which biological traits become either more or less common in a population. Individuals with certain variants of the trait survive and reproduce more than individuals with other variants.
In the African locust (Locusta migratoria), the nerve cells that connect to the wings originate in the abdomen, even though the wings are on the thorax. Nerve signals from the brain have to travel down the ventral nerve cord past their target, then backtrack through the insect to where they are needed.

Why would evolution produce something like that
Why would those who have such a poor design not die off and
Why wouldn't those with a better design be selected instead?

Atheist Ants - True story!

In a certain building, in a certain city, in a certain country, there lived a VERY interesting community of beings. On the main floor of a 98 story office tower lived several thousand religious ants. It wasn't a perfect life. There were perils to be sure, but they lived and thrived for countless generations. More importantly, they thrived because they had faith in their Creator. Day after day, generation after generation, coming and going through a tiny crack by an elevator door, adult ants told their children that an amazing Creator had designed what the adults called, “Our Universe.” They knew there was a Creator because, well, because this building, their home, existed. As far as they knew, they were the only colony of ants in the whole structure. In fact, except for this tiny crack by one of the elevator doors, their universe was downright hostile to ants. Nevertheless, it seemed obvious to these religious minded ants that some kind of Being with powers and abilities far beyond their own had to have brought their Universe into existence and that Being had to be pretty special to design such an incomprehensibly large structure. While their ability to explore was hampered by the dangers, for all the ants knew, the Tower stretched up to infinity.
As time rolled by however, something changed. What was once a very religious community began to fragment. First one group of ants, a rather bookish group figured out that the bright warming light on the other side of the glass doors didn't circle the building. It was the building that circled the light. What was once seen to be a part of the Designer's special plan for their Universe was now seen as just a very lucky break for the ants. Then someone figured out the origin of all the strange life-forms that came and went every day. It was observed, tested and verified that lifeless, noisy steal boxes made these life-forms and brought them to the building. This was probably how even the ants came to exist. Another proof that a Creator wasn't necessary. Then, one of the more ingenious ants figured out how the lighting system worked. Yet another in a growing list of proofs (at least to these particular ants) that a Designer wasn't needed for their Universe to exist. Then another ant figured out the climate control system. This was a huge discovery! While it used to be believed (so long ago that no one could remember who came up with the idea – therefore it was obviously false) that a Designer was required for the system to respond to temperature variations, it was now known to be taken care of by a simple set of dials on the wall. Another nail in the coffin of those who believed their Universe was designed. And while there was a lot of controversy surrounding the nature of electricity, little by little it became accepted theory that a Designer was not necessary to ensure a steady current to keep things running. It seemed as though electricity just was. It seemed like electricity was everywhere in their whole universe! In fact, an ant genius stated that electricity had always been in existence, that it had never not existed and that was that. Most of the so called scientific ants said he was right, even though there was not a shred of evidence for his claim. It just felt really good to this community of ants that his theory did away, once and for all, with the need for a Creator.
The more religious of the ants felt irate at the sheer nonsense of ants thinking that all they observed could exist without a Creator. They were quickly accused of eschewing logic for emotionalism. On the other hand the scientific community certainly could explain how things worked. It was all rather intimidating because those who could explain how things worked were admired by nearly everyone. It was just as though the ability to explain something was more awe inspiring than the thing being explained.
It became axiomatic that if you can explain how things work, then no external or transcendent cause was needed for their Universe to exist.
To appease latent doubts, many, many suggestions were given as to how the ant's universe came into existence. Some suggested that this building came from a previous building. Others said that there was once a huge black hole in the ground and the building simply popped into existence out of the hole. Literally dozens of ideas were put forward but all of them ultimately required a Creator, a Designer as an explanation for the existence of the building / Universe.

Eventually the anti-Creationists gave up trying to explain away a Designer and simply declared, "Nothing outside the universe was needed to make the systems work. Everything has simply fallen into place."
After all, if everything hadn't just fallen perfectly into place there wouldn't be any ants to observe and admire the grandeur of the Universe and how it worked.
Who says anyone created it”? became the cry of the loud minority.
Why do buildings need a cause?
“How do you ignorant old fools know that this building hasn't always existed?”
And if it hasn't always existed, maybe it built itself.”
One anti-Creation ant even posited that since their Universe was such a fine and good universe, that goodness itself brought the Universe into existence. Many philosophically minded ants liked that idea a lot. It seemed to the religious ants that any explanation, no matter how absurd, was more acceptable to a growing number of ants than the idea of a Creator. Several ants went so far as to say, “The very concept of a Designer is not allowed in the way we go about understanding our Universe.” Victor Stinger
These secular ants put up Bill Boards along ant walkways proclaiming that "Belief in a Designer is stupid." Soon enough any mention of a Designer was prohibited from public discussion – and the rest of the ants went along with it for fear of being mocked and ridiculed. Places of worship were shut down. Religious ants were harassed and hounded into silence. They weren't even allowed to mention to their children the idea of a Building Designer. To do so would open them up to charges of child abuse. Slowly but surely the youngest ants were intimidated into accepting what the loudest and most aggressive ants said about the nature of their Universe.
Their parents withdrew into little groups, refusing to change their outdated (what some derisively call bronze-age) beliefs. They ended their days being mocked by those who had come to believe that knowing how things worked proved that ants were the pinnacle of knowledge and power.
True Story!

Of Egg Yolks and Cigarettes

I heard the other day that eating egg yolks is just as dangerous for your health as smoking a pack of cigarettes a day.

Wow!

That is really unfortunate because I love eggs.

Well, you can't fight science.

There's no doubt that 25 cigarettes a day is not good for you and 25 eggs a day probably isn't any better.

The goddess of Rome

I gave a quote in an earlier post whereby I said that Pope John Paul credited Mary with saving his life. I was challenged to give a citation. It’s from the Pope’s last Will and Testament. A few more comments from the Cult of Mary as stated by the Pope.
. His devotion to Mary began when his mother died
. 1978 he dedicated his whole pontificate to Mary
. His world travels always included stops at shrines to Mary in order to venerate her in “hyperdulia” to raise her above the angels.
. He developed a Papal crest with a huge M in the centre for Mary
. When he died his coffin was decorated with a huge M for Mary
. His personal slogan which was embroidered into all his Papal robes, in Latin said, “I am totally yours, Mary.”
. Those were his opening words in his last will and testament, “I am totally yours, Mary.”
. “I place the moment of my death into the hands of the mother of my master. In the same maternal hands I leave everything and everyone to whom I have been connected. In these hands I leave the Church.”
. “Each has to take into his own hands the decisive moment of death and I entrust that moment into the hands of the mother of Christ.”
. In a letter to a Polish Cardinal, the Pope wrote, “Victory, when it comes will be a victory through Mary.”
. May 1997 - Message to the general audience - “Mary is the way which leads to Christ.” Not God (John 6:44) or the Holy Spirit, but Mary.
. The Pope wrote a book on the worship of Mary, the inside cover saying the book is for those who seek a deeper relationship with Jesus and Mary. THIS is the doctrine of the infallible Church of Rome.
. “Gate of heaven,” “Mediatrix of all graces,” “Mirror of perfection,” “Mother of the Church,” “Mother of Mercy,” “Pillar of faith,” “Seat of wisdom” - These are all names given by John Paul to Mary in his book on the worship of Mary.
. “Not having known sin she is able to have compassion in our hour of weakness.” Something the Bible attributes to Jesus alone, the Pope transfers to Mary.
. The Roman Church teaches a way of salvation that goes: You can’t get to God, unless you work, and work and work to get to God and you never know if you’ve done enough. Jesus' once and for all time forgiveness is not enough. You must be forgiven over and over and over again, but Jesus listens to His mother Mary and Mary is pleading for you and because of Mary, God might allow you into heaven -

THAT is what Rome teaches.

THAT is what the cult of Mary teaches.

Why Would Natural Selection Do That?

Natural selection is the gradual, non-random process by which biological traits become either more or less common in a population. Individuals with certain variants of the trait survive and reproduce more than individuals with other variants.
There are hundreds of species of animal which, living in total darkness in deep caves, have no need for eyes. They range from fish (eg the Mexican blind cave tetra Astyanax fasciatus mexicanus) to insects (eg the Hawaiian cave planthopper Oliarus polyphemus), spiders (eg the Tooth Cave Spider Neoleptoneta myopica), salamanders (eg Typhlomolge rathbuni) and crayfish (eg the Dougherty Plain cave crayfish Cambarus cryptodytes).
Yet, these creatures do in fact have eyes. The eyes are often tiny, lacking crucial parts, so they would not function even if there were light to see. But they are clearly eyes, set in skull apertures, on stalks etc as normal, nevertheless. Eyes that don't work in creatures that don't even need eyes?

Why would evolution produce such a thing

Why wouldn't those with a better design be selected instead?

Mankind Created God In His Own Image

This statement is similar to “God's commands always seem to coincide with human desires.” A comment that deserves to be at the top of the stupid comments list however, is the title of this post. Here's what I mean.

. On the one hand atheists say that all gods are created in the image of their human inventors. Like:

[The Christian God is] “Arguably the most unpleasant character in all fiction: jealous and proud of it, a petty, unjust, unforgiving control freak; a vindictive, bloodthirsty ethnic cleanser; a misogynist, homophobic, racist, infanticidal, genocidal, filicidal, pestilential, megalomaniacal, sadomasochistic, capriciously malevolent bully.” Richard Dawkins

You mean this God? This is the God that we created in our own image?

. Atheists say that Justice, as it’s found in the God of the Bible is nothing like justice as humans understand it.

Yet atheists also say that humans created God in their own image.

Which is it?

. Atheists say that fear of nature is what caused humans to invent gods as a wish fulfilment. But the Christian religion contains the concept of hell which is orders of magnitude worse than anything nature can throw at us.

What kind of wish fulfilment is that?

. Atheists say that God knows how everything will turn out and how He will act in every situation from now till eternity.

Atheists also accuse God of being arbitrary and capricious.

Which is it? It can't be both - except in the minds of atheists.

And finally, the greatest proof that the God of Christianity was not created in our image has to do with the teaching of Jesus that we are saved by grace through our faith in what Jesus accomplished by His resurrection.

There is not a human on earth that would or even could come up with the concept of salvation by grace alone. Humans, every single one of us demand that we "earn" our way to heaven through being good people. THAT is how you know a religion and that religions god(s) is man-made. Every religion BUT Christianity and even some religions that call themselves Christian (eg. Mormons) rely on good works for one's entrance into heaven.

So which is it and why do atheists so frequently flip flop from one side of an argument to the other as the situation seems to demand?

Don't they care about integrity?
Do they think no one will notice?

God, I know surely that You do not exist. But if perchance You exist, which I contest, it is not my duty to believe in You; it is Your duty to reveal Yourself to me.”
The then Jewish atheist Richard Wurmbrand

Mr. Wurmbrand went on to become one of the world’s greatest evangelists and founder of Voice of the Martyrs which is currently active in 80 restricted countries. His books promoting Jesus as Messiah have been translated into more than 50 languages.

Oh Those Atheists

I often see atheists (Rebecca Watson was the latest) say something like - “I distrust those who know so well what God wants them to do. It always coincides with their own desires.”

Seriously!

Next to, “man created God in his own image,” the above statement has to run a close second in being profoundly stupid.

Out of pure ignorance these atheists believe that our own desires match commands like:
. Love your enemy
. Do good to those who hate you
. Pray for those who persecute you
. Do not repay evil for evil
. Do not be proud
. Hate what is evil
. Do not divorce
. Show mercy to everyone
. Give to the poor
. Love your neighbour as yourself
. Obey every law of the government
. Do not take revenge
. Consider others better than yourself
. Submit to your spouse's wishes
. You are sinful to the core and need forgiveness
. Associate with people of lowly class who cannot return the favour
. Forgive wrongs done to you every single time
. Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouth
. Do not let there be even a hint of sexual immorality in your lives
. Do not allow greed to exist in your life.
. Whether you eat or drink, or no matter what you do, do it all for the glory of Jesus
. Do everything without complaining
. Honour your parents
. Do not commit adultery
. Give thanks in all circumstances
. Do not be anxious about anything
. Do not lie
. No one will come to heaven except through My forgiveness
. Bless those who curse you
. If you do not believe that I Am who I say that I Am you will die in your sins
. Give thanks to God the Father
. Devote yourselves to prayer
. Be meek and humble
. Whoever believes in Jesus will be saved but whoever rejects Jesus as Saviour will experience God's undiluted wrath
. Put God first in your life
. If you would call yourself my follower, you must deny yourself
. Make every effort to enter through the narrow gate
. You cannot love money and God
. Take the lowest position; lead by being the servant of others
. Do not lust
. Be content with what you have
. Mourn and grieve over your sinfulness
. Do not get your value and worth from money, power, looks, possessions.
. Do not have sexual intercourse outside of a monogamous, faithful male/female marriage
. Love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, mind and strength

And finally, the greatest proof that God's commands do no cohere to our desires. We are saved by grace through our faith in what Jesus accomplished by His resurrection.

There is not a human on earth that would or even could come up with the concept of salvation by grace alone. Humans, every single one of us demand that we "earn" our way to heaven through being good people. Every religion but Christianity and even some religions that call themselves Christian (eg. Mormons) rely on good works for one's entrance into heaven.
There is hardly a single command of our Creator regarding how we are to interact with Him and with our fellow humans that does not go directly against human nature. Our efforts to love our neighbour as our self or to act toward others as we would want them to act toward ourselves are sporadic at best and tainted with a memory bias that weeds out most if not all of our selfish actions and failures to live as we should.
I could make this list of commands four or five times as long but it is obvious that these commands of God are in direct conflict with human desires. Watson and other atheists make these claims just as though they are not as absurd, illogical and incoherent as is world-view of atheism itself.
Tomorrow I'll give you the atheist claim that “God Was Created In The Image of Man.”

Good Things Happen

Clicking to the tv menu (channel 13) and have it come on just as number two is rolling into place generates a feeling in me that is very much like winning the lottery.

I think.
I've never won a lottery of course, but I think that if I ever did win a lottery it would feel very much like turning to the tv menu (that's channel 13) and having it come on just as number two is rolling into place.
Channel number one would be better.
It doesn't start at channel number one.

Why doesn't it start at channel number one?

It's All About Israel!

Lord, are you at this time going to restore the nation of Israel?”

It sounds as though Jesus' disciples don’t have a clue. Here is Jesus, He’s died, He was buried, He rose from the dead, He interacted with hundreds of people for almost two months, and these guys are STILL focused on the nation of Israel.
What is wrong with them?
As a matter of fact, they aren’t nearly as dull as they might sound.
The fact is, Israel IS the main point of the story.
I often wonder if the Jews are God's chosen people because they are universally reviled, or are they universally reviled because they are God's chosen people. Given the enmity between our Creator and satan (and satan's work in the lives of people) I suspect it is the latter.
The rise and development of the nation of Israel is a huge, huge part of what the Bible is about. It’s a huge part of why God created humanity. Of course the salvation of the elect is a big deal. Of course the punishment of those who are guilty of disobedience is a big deal. But Israel, the nation, the people, their role in the “life” of God the Son, this is at least as important as what we naturally think about when we read the Gospels.

Secular Utopia

There is not one Catholic priest in North Korea, nor Protestant minister, and Christianity is outlawed.
North Korea is an example of a country (unlike secular countries in Europe that have a Christian history) that demonstrates what it is like to truly live by “might makes right,” the only logical outcome of secular driven morality.

Hoist the Mainsail

 I can only spread the sail;
You Lord must breath the wind”

I wonder how often God has sent the breeze but I’ve not had my sail raised.

Ah, let me live each and every day ready for action. Let me begin by asking God for direction, strong in faith, constant in prayer, diligent in seeking His will to sail more closely with Jesus.

Objective Laws of Logic, Mathematics and Morality

That is the kind of universe that we inhabit. The laws of logic, mathematics and morality are not invented. Rather, they are discovered.

There exists independently of the human mind, a raw and immutable mathematical reality.”
Alain Connes – “Chair of Analysis and Geometry at the College de France”

Plato held that these laws were timeless and unchanging. In fact, he said they were “more real” than the things we perceive with our senses.” Plato understood that goodness and beauty exist and makeup reality. Certainly these laws are not something the way cars or buildings or even an atom is something. But they are not nothing either. In fact, these laws are necessary for our visible reality to exist. But where did this reality originate?

Mathematicians should have the courage of their most profound convictions, and thus affirm that mathematical forms indeed have an existence that is independent of the mind considering them.”
Rene Thom

If mathematical entities do exist, they have to exist necessarily from all eternity. That should not surprise since mathematics, morality and logic are part of the character of Creator God, who is an immaterial, eternal Being.

Mathematical entities are as real and mind-independent as Mount Everest. It's almost as though the physical world is built out of mathematics.”
Roger Penrose

To look for the cause of the universe is to look for God. A wondrous reality in which we live, is that when we are exploring moral good, or the laws of logic, or the laws of mathematics or the laws of nature, when we examine a flower petal, an insect wing or the human genetic code, we are in fact exploring parts and portions of the very character of God Himself.

God is a mathematician.”
astronomer James Jeans

I'm not suggesting that moral goods are good because God thinks them, or even commands them. Laws of mathematics or logic do not exist because God thinks them. Moral goods exist, mathematical laws and the laws of logic exist because a logical, orderly and morally perfect God exists. Nietzsche was absolutely correct. Without God, there is no moral standard by which we must abide. He could have said, without God, a mathematically precise, life-supporting, moral and logical universe would not exist.

Not only do mathematical entities seem to be out there – eternal, objective, immutable – they also appear to be sovereign over the physical universe. How else can we account for the unreasonable effectiveness of mathematics in the natural sciences?”
Eugene Wigner

The good that we ought to do are not based upon arbitrary or capricious commands, for the good that we ought to do flows directly from the character of the Being and existence of God Himself. Because God is morally good, only those thoughts and behaviours that cohere with God's nature can be called, good. This is what makes morality objective.

Because God is omnipotent, only a universe created by Him will hold together and have its existence according to the laws of logic and physics that we have discovered.

You can recognize truth by its beauty and simplicity. When you get it right, it is obvious that its right. If, in Galileo's phrase, the book of nature is written in the language of mathematics this could only be because the natural would itself is inherently mathematical.”
Richard Feyman
Of course atheists by the score, think it preposterous that logic, morality and mathematical laws should exist independent of the human mind.

But think about it! Wouldn't it be dishonest to pretend those laws aren't real if they are indispensable to our scientific understanding of the contingent world? Of course we don't observe these laws directly, but we need them to explain what we do see. It seems to me that we have the same kind of reason for believing these laws exist as we have for believing in Dark Matter or Higgs Bossen.

And if we believe these eternal laws exist, we must believe that Creator God exists because Creator God is the only logical explanation for the existence of these laws.

What kind of person would reject this obvious conclusion?
