What Does It Matter?

Some people can’t be bothered to think through the evidence for the resurrection.
They believe what they believe and nothing much is going to change that. If that’s how you want to live, I guess that’s your business.

For me, I like my life to make sense. For example:
The resurrection means that my life is not futile -
It shows that God exists. People do not naturally rise from the dead. It was most certainly a supernatural event.

Certain important things in life are proven to have an objective base by the resurrection. For example:
The resurrection means that God is in control.
. The resurrection means that Death is not the end.
Jesus went into the tomb to show in an unmistakable manner that He came out.
. Because Jesus lives, because He has proven His power over death, we too, according to His promise, will live again.

The resurrection means that Forgiveness is real -
Jesus has the right to condemn me to an eternity in hell.
He has promised to not do that because of my faith in what He has done.
He has shown the power to overcome the consequences of my sin.

I agree completely with this. Most people who are raised by Christian parents never take the time to think about the evidence for the resurrection. Hence, they believe it to be literally true. Most people are are raised by non-Christian parents never take the time to think about the evidence for the resurrection. Hence, they believe it is just a story.

Obviously, what's funny is that this is not what you meant at all. When you write that some people can’t be bothered to think through the evidence for the resurrection, and that they believe what they believe, you imply that these people do not believe the resurrection relay happen. You don't really care about the vast majority of people who do believe and did absolutely nothing to investigate the evidence... You also imply that the ones who do not believe are grossly mistaken, either because their interpretation of the evidence is wrong or they did not do it properly.

For me, I like my life to make sense.

As opposed to what? People who like their life to not make sense? This is absurd... But again, it's obvious that what you mean is that your life makes sense to you, and the life of others does not make sense to you, hence you prefer yours, because it makes sense... to you. It also trivializes the complex society we live in, where it is sometimes simply impossible to make sense of certain things. The world is huge, the number of people alive hard to comprehend, and the knowledge mankind has acquired is simply out of reach of any individual. Not everything makes sense; and that will never change.

    For example:
The resurrection means that my life is not futile -
It shows that God exists. People do not naturally rise from the dead. It was most certainly a supernatural event... [Jesus is God because he said so...]

These are good examples of how irrational thinking works and how simple your vision of the real world is. All of these points have absolutely no connection between them. Oh of course, they fit well with the stories written in the Bible, but logically speaking, a resurrection event proves just one thing: that person got resurrected! That's it!

Logically speaking, it could be the case that this was a unique crazy event; an event that will never happen again for anyone else. It could be the case that everybody resurrect but there is still no God. It could be the case that it was actually a natural process that we yet don't understand, and so on... The possibilities are so vast and yet the simple story written in the Bible must be the one that fits because it's the story that also details the event. It's fascinating how simplistic this vision is. It's also fascinating that someone can actually believe that these things actually happen exactly the way they are written but that's another story...
