People say that life is short; that a bus could hit you and you could die at any moment so you have to live each day like it’s your last.
That’s a lie.
Life is long. You’ve very unlikely to get hit by a bus and you are going to live with the consequences of the choices you made today, for the next fifty years.

I'm probably not going to get hit by a bus (I look both ways, even on one-way streets), but given the chronic health problems of my parents and myself, I don't know that I have 50 years. Maybe, that would only be 78... but the reason to live well is because if you don't, you might not even get forty more years, or thirty, or twenty, or ten, or even another day. One night of heavy drinking could end your life, and that's a consequence you won't have to live with in fifty years, but I bet people who that happens to very often wish they somehow could.
ReplyDeleteBesides, don't you believe you face the consequences of your actions forever, not that until death?
Was this about tattoos and piercings? That was sort of the first thing that came to my mind, but then I wandered aimlessly for a while there on another line of thought... cause yeah, you will regret tattoos and piercings in 50 years. Hell, if you mature at a normal rate, you'll probably regret those after just a decade or two.
Anyway... nice to see you're still around.
It's nice to still be around. No, I wasn't thinking about tats etc. although those are good examples. No, I was just thinking about the truly stupid decisions that I've made, the consequences of which will follow me to the grave.
