The 1.6% Solution

1.6% of the North American population avoids asking the most important question ever.

They know that it’s True that at the singularity there is no earlier space / time point.

They know that it’s True that matter and energy didn't exist until the singularity.

They know this but refuse to ask themselves, “If matter / energy, space / time did not exist until the Singularity, what triggered the Singularity?”

This 1.6% of the population must go through their lives maintaining this lack of examination or their faith system will collapse.

  1. Earlier? Without time, how is "earlier" meaningful?

  2. I'm afraid you do not understand what the word singularity means... because, as Anon pointed out, the "most important question ever" is not even valid...

Plus we already know your answer to that question... it's God! because God is timeless, eternal, immaterial, which means that this concept of a god, at least with respect to these attributes, is imaginary...

Or perhaps you want to convince us that infinity can be real? You keep on insisting that the immaterial infinte is impossible but I have yet to understand why your god being infinite causes no problem to you.

'Because He is The Greatest Conceivable Being Ever To Have Been Thought Of' is a the expected response, but not convincing at all... it's still an exception I have no reason to believe in.

Someone once said, we are both atheists, I just believe in one less god than you. When you'll understand why I don't believe in all the others, you'll understand why I do not believe yours.

  3. eh this makes me realize that you must have not understood anything I wrote in my last long posts since you do not understand what a singularity implies... dam I just wasted my time again, lol.

  4. Oh, my, how atheists have glomped on to "we can't talk about "prior."" Just like that's some kind of excuse for remaining dull of mind and slow of thought.

When you understand why I believe in all of the gods you'll understand why I'm not an atheist.

  5. You mean that spotting an actual contradiction is what makes us slow of thought? lol, that is insane...

How can you not see the contradiction yourself? You talk about the beginning of time, some sort of absolute 0 of time, and then ask a question about the time before that time...

There is no answer to that question... just like 'how many corners does a circle have?' is not a valid question.

At the same time though, we already know your own answer to the question... because that's when you go on to claim that since there was no time, no matter, no energy, the cause 'had' to be timeless/eternal, immaterial, energy-less... i.e. had to be some god, therefore, had to be God.

But using terms like eternal, you automatically fall into the realm of conceptual things, mental abstract constructs, imaginary things (like a singularity, hum hum, starting to understand what a singularity is perhaps?).

Therefore, using that description, your god remains something imaginary that you think we should believe as being real. I still wonder why I would do that exception for that concept, for that particular god. I guess all it takes is faith...

Oh and you believe in all of the gods!?
    Nice joke :)

  6. "When you understand why I believe in all of the gods you'll understand why I'm not an atheist. "

Oh please, ... this has become pathetic. what does that even mean in your context? now your a Hindu-Christian hybrid? Not all ideologies are the same or compatible, and your a christian, I know your not prepared to call yourself a muslim. Why don't you go tell your kids that you've converted to islam? I didn't want to spend my time expressing my opinion about how stupid your replies have become, but its unavoidable at this point. You sounds just like JD towards the end of his losing debate with me, desperate.

Hugo, it truly is hopeless to argue with mak. when you get him in a corner, he'll say dumb things like "cuz Jesus said so" and when you call him on it, he'll try his best to think of something clever, but will end up just repeating something that was refuted. He won't respond to most of my questions, because he can't.

    So we get responses like

"Oh, my, how atheists have glomped on to "we can't talk about "prior."" Just like that's some kind of excuse for remaining dull of mind and slow of thought."

That's not what is going on, we're simply questioning how you can make claims that describe this "before" time so intimately. We're not saying this cannot be discussed, we're saying, how can you know all the things you know about something nobody knows about. This is completely ridiculous, nobody says we cannot theorize about the mysteries of reality, as atheists we just point out how silly it is to be so set on theories that include spirits, angels, demons and magical miracles when there is no rational reason to. We question whether people should be dressing up every Sunday to sing about a story of a man that walks on water.

Is that so bad? is it so crazy, as you seem to think, to question the validity of a story about a man that can make blind men see with magic? Mak, you spend great deal of time calling atheists slow of thought, and irrational, and stupid. But can you answer my question from the previous post?

Nope. Just like you can't respond to most of everything I type. And there is a good reason, because you can't. Shall I copy and paste those things you avoid? If I'm so dull of mind, how is it that you are having such a hard time refuting the argument?

Yep, I've been writing on his blogs for a few months already, so I am fully aware of that, and I agree with you that even if we go one question at a time he succeeds at avoiding crucial points; but I still think it's fun :)

There is a lot to learn when discussing with people who have dogmatic beliefs! perhaps we'll learn how angels can go back and forth from the real material world to the "real" immaterial world? who knows!
