Unforced Rhythms of Grace

“Levi gave a large dinner at his home for Jesus. Everybody was there, tax men and other disreputable characters as guests at the dinner. The Pharisees and their religion scholars came to His disciples greatly offended. "What is He doing eating and drinking with crooks and 'sinners'?"
Jesus heard about it and spoke up, "Who needs a doctor: the healthy or the sick? I'm here inviting outsiders, not insiders — an invitation to a changed life, changed inside and out. This is God’s Kingdom Come To Earth!” Luke 5:29-30

Jesus is known for not putting up walls to keep people out. Rather He asks everyone on earth to open our door to invite Him in. Jesus will come to feast with anyone and everyone, no matter who they are or what they’re like, and in they process they will be changed by Him.

Those who are self-righteous (“I don’t need God to be a good person), see no need to invite Jesus to come home with them. They’re sufficient in and of themselves. That’s cool with Jesus. He gives everyone the opportunity to reject Him. Jesus will not force a healed and forgiven relationship with Him onto anyone.

To the rest of us Jesus says:
“Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you'll recover your life. I'll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won't lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you'll learn to live freely and lightly.” Matthew 11:28
