In Rev. Chapter 5 we have a situation being described whereby Creator God is holding a scroll. We find out later that undoing the seals to this scroll unleashes tremendous suffering and hardship and heartache upon the people of the earth. It’s a serious deal. Here’s the weird part:
God is holding the scroll.
John weeps because no one is worthy to open the scroll.
Did you get that?
Creator God is holding the scroll.
No one is worthy to open the scroll.
If Creator God isn’t worthy who would be?
Well, as it turns out, Jesus, God the Son, the Lamb who was slain is worthy. Why? Well, my guess is the answer is tied to the results of opening the seals to the scroll. Suffering like the world has not seen before is about to take place. It’s going to be horrific. It’s going to be gruesome. It is not unleashed casually, arbitrarily, or capriciously. Who can possibly take the responsibility to unleash such suffering upon the earth? How about the only innocent person to have ever lived on earth? How about an innocent person who has suffered grievously at the hands of the people who live on the earth. An innocent person who was and is hated by those who live upon the earth.
Jesus, the innocent Lamb who was slain is worthy to unleash punishment upon those who caused not only Him to suffer but also those who love and follow Him.
That’s who is worthy!
That’s why He is worthy!

I love the optimism behind Christianity, it's such a lovely religion.
