Chesterton once wrote, “Plato has told you a truth; but Plato is dead. Shakespeare has startled you with an image; but Shakespeare will not startle you anymore. But imagine what it would be to live with such men still living, to know that Plato might break out with an original lecture tomorrow, or that at any moment Shakespeare might shatter everything with a simple song.”
That is what it’s like to live with Jesus in your life. Unlike Plato or Shakespeare, Jesus is alive and ready to dazzle on a regular basis with insight and wisdom. Living with Jesus is always expecting, and receiving that which is new to the human psyche.
Imagine! Creator God allows us to discover Him.
“If you search for Me with all your heart, I will be found by you.”
Creator God reveals Himself to us in direct proportion to our obedience to His commands. Morning by morning new mercies and aspects of His love envelop me and guide me through the day.
“He is no fool to give up what he cannot keep, to gain what he cannot lose.”
Praise God from whom all blessings flow.

"Creator God reveals Himself to us in direct proportion to our obedience to His commands."
ReplyDeleteHapless Job certainly didn't feel that way.
So by "direct proportion" you mean to suggest a direct positive or negative correlation. Hhmmmm, not biblical at all-- The revelation is the same for all who choose to believe, period.
Please expand.
. Like virtually every atheist on the planet you confuse revelation with blessing.
ReplyDelete. Like virtually every atheist on the planet you’re incapable of seeing how sorrow and loss can be used for good.
It was only when Job was ready to allow God to be God (obedience)that He caught the reality of, or the revelation of God -
“Surely I spoke of things I did not understand. My ears had heard of you but now my eyes have see you. Therefore I despise myself and repent in dust and ashes.” Job 42
Before this admission, Job was in a similar situation to where you are now. The evidence of God was right in front of his eyes but he couldn't comprehend it. He knew of God but he didn't KNOW God. It was evidence but not a revelation. After obeying or submitting to the reality of God, the evidence became a revelation.
Just as you and I both have the evidence of the universe before us, it is only a revelation of God's existence to me. To you it is nothing but a universe.

"Not a Biblical concept?"
Are you kidding me?

John 15:10
"I have revealed you to those whom you gave me out of the world. They were yours; you gave them to me and they have obeyed your word.
John 17:6
Who may climb the mountain of the Lord? Who may stand in his holy place? Only those whose hands and hearts are pure, who do not worship idols and never tell lies.
Psalm 24:3,4
“Because I am righteous, I will see you. When I awake, I will see you face to face and be satisfied.”
Psalm 17:15
“Work at living in peace with everyone, and work at living a holy life, for those who are not holy will not see the Lord.”
Hebrews 12:14
“And they will see his face, and his name will be written on their foreheads.”
Revelation 22:4
You're drowning in kool aid, but ok. ;)
ReplyDeleteLike virtually every Christian on the planet you are an idiot.
ReplyDeleteWow, generalizing feels good!
Like virtually every atheist on the planet you’re incapable of thinking clearly.
Strawmen help me not have to listen to or think about what either side is saying!
