Much of what passes for News is just so very stupid. Here’s an example. I saw on CNN that “For emotional health we need to be touched twelve times a day.”
Think about that!
What kind of study could possibly definitively conclude that we need to be touched twelve times a day?
Here’s what probably happened.
Some CNN reporter was at a party and he met a person who worked in the Behavioural Psychology Department at a local university. You know, the place where they pull habits out of rats.
It came up that this person had been observing how important it is to our emotional health that we receive regular physical contact. Always on the lookout for a career defining story, the reporter asked, “How many times a day do we need to be touched?”
Sensing that he was in he was in the presence of the village idiot, the Psychologist looked the reporter squarely in the eye and said, “Twelve.”
Off scooted the little man, and in the middle of the night he banged out his Pulitzer Prize Winning story. An editor at CNN looked at the story and thought, “This doesn’t stink too badly,” passed it on to who ever gets this kind of crap printed and there it is - a story that turns me off news for ever.
I can’t take it any more.
I’m done.
I give up on reading the news.
