I've
read on numerous occasions how atheists taunt Christians with
something like, “So when science works to cure diseases, I suppose
we're working against God who wanted to send disease and suffering
into the world as punishment.”
Or
something along those lines. Sound familiar Hugo?
Reality
check: God did not want sickness and suffering to come into
the world. Suffering, pain, death and loss are simply the
consequences of the sin that we humans invited into the cosmos. We
chose that consequence when we chose death over life; when we chose
our way over God's way.
On
the contrary, the kingdom of God, the kingdom that He gave everyone
and the kingdom that He will once again give those who choose it, is
one of absolute and total freedom from sickness and instead He
will give us the existence of perfect Love and Peace and Justice.
To
say that working for the end of sickness is defeating God's desire is
to say that when Jesus gave sight to the blind, made the crippled
walk, healed lepers and disease of every kind, He, Jesus was was
working against God.
It's
saying that when Jesus healed every type of consequence of sin
including death, that God was working against God. That God was
defeating God's desire.
It
shouldn't surprise. Regarding all things spiritual atheists exist
within that type of convoluted thinking - all the while calling
themselves Brights.
