I'd
asked on an earlier post, “What more could God have done in order
to make His existence known?”
There
is another question along the same lines. The question is, “What
more could God have done to provide for your safe arrival in heaven?”
.
He's revealed His existence to us.
.
He's told us the ground rules regarding our situation far in advance:
-
We're sinners in need of forgiveness.
-
We must repent of our sins and allow Jesus to be Lord of our lives.
.
He's paid the penalty for our sins so we don't have to pay it ourselves.
Did
you get that?
Jesus
has already paid the penalty for our sins
Jesus
has already paid the penalty for your sins
I
said, Did you get that?
The
penalty that is due as a consequence of your sins has already
been paid.
Your
sins are already forgiven!
It
doesn't matter if you're an atheist, Buddhist, or Hindu. It doesn't
matter if you worship Dung Beatles or if you have given your
allegiance to satan.
Jesus
has paid the penalty for your sins. All
you have to do is reach out and accept that forgiveness. The guilt can be gone. You can be set free.
. It's like you've been acquitted of a crime. All you have to do is walk out of jail.
- So why do you stay sitting in the cell?
. It's like you're lost in the desert, on the verge of death and there before you is a tanker truck full of water. A cup of cold water is handed to you. All you have to do is raise it to your lips and swallow.
- So why do you throw the water out into the sand?
. It's like you're a starving street person standing outside a soup kitchen. All you have to do is go inside and enjoy the warmth and free food.
- So why do you refuse what's being offered?
. It's like you are dying from HIV/AIDS. A cure has been found and it is free. All you have to do is go to the doctor's office.
- So why not receive the health you so desperately want?
.
It's like Someone has offered you eternity in paradise. All you have
to do is be willing to say, “Thank you. I accept.”
That's
all you have to do. God has done everything else.
In
fact, your missing out on this opportunity, and going to hell, will require more effort than is required of you in order to
go to heaven. For going to hell will require the deliberate act on
your part of stepping over the dead body of Jesus in order to get
there.
The
debt for your sins has been paid.
All
you have to do is reach out and take the receipt.
What
kind of person would reject an offer of that kind of Love?
What kind of person would reject an offer of that kind of Love?
ReplyDeleteThe same kind of person who'd reject a conviction for crimes he/she did not commit...
Hmm, if I'm understanding you correctly, that's an interesting self-concept that you possess.
ReplyDeleteI think there's been one other person with the same understanding. I remember reading an account of Him saying, "Of which sin are you accusing Me?" He actually spoke as though He was sinless. Just like you.

ReplyDeleteSo... you're ignoring what I wrote?
ReplyDeleteThe kind of person who'd reject your offer is the kind of person who'd reject conviction for crimes he/she didn't commit.
I speak as if I'm sinless because I am. I've not committed crimes against God, nor have I done anything that would offend Him. Sin is the invention of human beings like you.
Actually, not quite like you; it's the invention of human beings like the ones you'd happily follow.
Incidentally, I'm not an atheist, so your trolling efforts can't point to me as an example of success.
ReplyDeleteIgnore? Hmm, I thought I agreed with what you wrote. Jesus said that He was being convicted of crimes that He didn't commit. And you say that, on Christianity, you are being convicted of crimes that you haven't committed. Yes? Or what am I missing? Where are you coming from?
ReplyDeleteIgnore? Hmm, I thought I agreed with what you wrote.
ReplyDeleteHmm, you called it "interesting", and said nothing about agreeing with it. Playing coy via blog comments is lame, Thesauros. Lets instead treat each other like adults.
Jesus said that He was being convicted of crimes that He didn't commit.
That's roughly what the Bible says, yes.
And you say that, on Christianity, you are being convicted of crimes that you haven't committed. Yes?
"On Christianity"? Not sure what that means, but very roughly, Christianity claims I am guilty - and I am not.
If failing to identify Jesus by name is what you take as being coy, I'm sorry. I remembered you as someone who was fairly literate regarding the Bible. There is no hidden agenda in any of these comments.
ReplyDeleteYou and Jesus both claim to be innocent of sin. If that isn't an interesting self-concept I don't know what is.
"On Christianity" which means from the perspective of Jesus' teaching i.e. Christianity,
YOU are a liar,
You are an adulterer,
You are a murderer,
You are a hypocrite.
And you also call Jesus a liar.
Yet, YOU say you are without fault. I find that to be a very interesting and intriguing self-concept.
Because of that I would like to know where you're coming from. Is this a Whateverman world-view. Something you've come up with on your own? Do you belong to some group that supports this persona of perfection?
As a counsellor I've worked with several hundred psychopaths. They too do not see themselves as having committed any wrongs. Or at least wrongs that aren't fully justified. Yet you do not strike me as someone who would support a diagnosis like that.
So I'm wondering, where is your claim of complete innocence of wrong-doing toward self, others and God coming from?
. You've never lied?
. Never looked at a woman other than your wife as a potential sexual partner?
. Never stolen anything?
. Never wanted what's not yours?
. Never been angry with or physically harmed another person?
. Always loved Creator God with all your heart, soul, mind and strength?
The last one being THE command that Jesus - your Lord - says is the most important command.
I'm interested. I'd like to understand your perspective.
And as far as being "not guilty," goes, on Christianity, that is only possible if you've repented of your sins. Then you would indeed be declared not guilty. You would be, as this post describes, Forgiven.
ReplyDeleteBut I don't get the sense that you're talking about that either. So, what's up?
