Really, really important! What’s so important? Setting right issues where a fellow Christian has a grievance against you.
“So if you are offering your gift at the altar and there your remember that your brother has something against you, leave your gift there before the altar and go. First be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift.” Matthew 5:23-24
These verses are not just talking about you happen to be sitting in Church one day, . . .
These verses are talking about something along the order of, you’re standing at the alter getting married. And in the middle of getting married you remember that you’ve offended a brother or sister in Christ - then go a fix the relationship.
How common is reconciliation prior to worship the Christian Church?
How seriously do most Christians take this command?
Well, it’s true that counselling twists my perception of human relationships, but I’m thinking it’s pretty rare.
God is saying, “Don’t even think about trying to worship Me when your relationship with someone else is broken. That kind of worship is unacceptable to Me.”
Reconciliation MUST come before worship. In fact, I’d go so far as to say that without reconciliation Jesus will not receive your “worship.”
“ Even though you bring me burnt offerings and grain offerings, I will not accept them. Though you bring choice fellowship offerings, I will have no regard for them. Away with the noise of your songs! I will not listen to the music of your harps. But let justice roll on like a river, righteousness like a never-failing stream.” Amos 5:22-24
