That is often a complaint by atheists. “Why doesn't God just show me that He exists?”
Well, how would He go about doing that?
Would bringing a mathematically precise, life-supporting, moral and material universe into existence out of literally nothing material do the trick?
For this small group of people - Sadly no.
How about coming in person and manipulating nature in ways that are simply impossible for humans to do? Would that be enough?
For this small group of people - Sadly no.
How about putting 3 billion bits of coded, specified, formulated information to guide replication in the very first replicating cell?
For this small group of people - Sadly no.
How about giving every single human being on earth an internal moral code to guide their behaviours?
For this small group of people - Sadly no.
All of this loudly declares the glory and wonder of Creator God. But is it good enough for those who worship themselves as the pinnacle of evolution?
Sadly no.
How about giving us minds that can comprehend and understand the order of our universe. How about allowing us to know that the constants and quantities that govern our universe were in place at Planck time?
For this small group of people - Sadly no.
For this small group of people - Sadly no.
How about this – from an atheist physicist?
“At first I imagined that the creator might be able to send information into the new universe – to teach its creatures how to behave, to help them discover what the laws of nature are, and so forth. Then I started thinking. Suppose the creator tried to write something. The creator, by manipulating the cosmos in the right way, would have the power to ordain certain physical parameters of the universe he ushers into being. He could determine, for example what the numerical ratio of the electron's mass to the proton's will be. Such numbers, called the constants of nature, look utterly arbitrary to us: there is no apparent reason why they should take the value they do rather than some other value. (Why, for instance, is the strength of gravity in our universe determined by a number with the digits “6673”?) but the creator, by fixing certain values for these constants, could write a subtle message into the very structure of the universe. Such a message would be legible only to physicists.”
Would the fine tuning of the universe be enough, something that simply would / could not happen by accident be enough to cause us to recognize the existence of our Creator?
For this small group of people - Sadly no.
For most people in the world, around 95% of humanity, the existence of the universe is enough. However, nothing will be enough if one already has an anti-God, anti-theist, world-view to protect.
