The 1.6% Solution

1.6% of the North American population says that the Bible can’t be trusted in what it says. Example: These people used to say that writing didn’t exist at the time of Moses. They say that Moses couldn’t have written the Pentateuch. Then the Ebla tablets were found proving that written language predated Moses by at least 1,000 years. 1.6% of the population still maintains their implausible position, not because of the evidence but in spite of the evidence. They must do this or their world-view will collapse.

Out of curiosity, where are you getting this 1.6% figure from?

I am pretty sure that he will not reply to your question about the 1.6% figure because it is a simple mistake that he refuses to correct.

What I found is that 1.6% was actually the number of Atheist AND agnostic combined, in the USA only, for surveys done in 2008. There is a sentence on a Wikipedia article that mentions the 1.6% but I did not see it in any source, it was only a sum of two other numbers.

Anyway, look at this post on this blog, I pasted some links to the appropriate references that he ignored...

  3. By the way, note that my comment with the links was posted on April 11th, and he posted a few of these 1.6% blog posts afterward... quite funny!
