Only One Universe?

Emphatically - No!

Most people define the universe as everything that exists. Well, this universe may be everything MATERIAL that exists but it is certainly not EVERYTHING that exists.

There are some people who imagine that there are an infinite number of universes in existence. These are the same people who tell us that they live and die by the scientific method of knowing - i.e., they only believe something if it is detectable, measurable, testable yaddah, yaddah, yaddah. Well these people have no proof of an infinite number of universes.

Nothing like that has been detected.

Nothing measured.

Nothing tested.

Yet they believe.

Such is the desperate faith of these people.

On the other hand, we do know of ONE other universe that is distinct from our own. In the thin spots of our journey, we can almost but not quite see into this other dimension. Some, Paul, Stephen, John and perhaps a few others not recorded have been allowed glimpses of it.

Jesus demonstrated some of its qualities for us.

Near the end of His time on earth, Jesus moved back and forth between the two universes or dimensions. Sitting on the shore of a lake after His resurrection, Jesus ate lunch with his disciples in THIS universe of space, time, matter and energy. Just prior to this, as Jesus returned to the other dimension, He passed completely through grave clothes, held together like cement with 75lbs. of embalming spices. He moved unimpeded through the stone walls of the tomb with a body as visible as yours and mine. He appeared to hundreds of people, ate with them, spoke with them, visible to them but no longer bound by the space / time dimension and the laws of physics. In fact, at His ascension, Jesus proved that the laws of physics, such as gravity no longer had any hold on Him as He moved from this universe into the ONLY other universe / dimension that we know of.

We know that one other dimension exists because:

. the 2nd Law of Thermodynamics,

. the expansion of the universe,

. background radiation, and

. the Borde-Guth-Vilenkin Theorem* all demand that any universe with a definitive space / time boundary, a beginning, a Singularity, a Creation event demands the existence of a Supreme Causal Agent from the other realm.
=================

* The conclusion they reached is that any model of an expanding universe, be it theoretical like "atheist origin of the universe mythologies," or real, such as our own, is geodesically incomplete, or past-incomplete without a past finite space / time boundary.

It used to be the case that those atheists who were rightly terrified of the implications of a universe with a beginning could hide behind our ignorance of pre Planck time events. In fact, those who remain ignorant regarding this theorem continue to say, “We just don’t know,” as though that somehow absolves them of their ignorance. It does not.

The Borde-Guth-Vilenkin Theorem does not depend upon any physical description or knowledge of the pre Plank time era. This theorem rids atheists of any hope of avoiding a singularity, a beginning, a Big Bang Creation Event. This is true PARTICULARLY for Dawkins’ favourite myth, the eternal inflationary multi-verse. What we know of Dark Matter also rids us of any hope for oscillating models.

I leave you with the words of Vilenkin himself.

“It is said that an Argument is what convinces reasonable men, and a Proof is what it takes to convince an unreasonable man. With the proof now in place, cosmologists can no longer hide behind the possibility of a past-eternal universe. There is no escape, they have to face the problem of the cosmic beginning.”
Alex Vilenkin, “Many Worlds In One - The Search for Other Universes,” 11

  1. Quick comment on that...

    From:
    http://www.onpointradio.org/2007/05/forget-the-big-bang-theory

“… What we call the Big Bang was almost certainly not the actual origin of time in either of the theories that we’re talking about. … The main difference I think [between the inflationary theory and Neil and Paul's theory] is the answer to the question of what is it that made the universe large and smooth everything out. … The inflationary version of cosmology is not cyclic. … It goes on literally forever with new universes being created in other places. The inflationary prediction is that our region of the universe would become ultimately empty and void but meanwhile other universes would srput out in other places in this multiverse. ” Alan Guth

  2. Mmm, yes. And the very first of these universes came from? Right, these are the same people who believe that there actually CAN be an infinite regress of cause and there actually CAN be a material infinite.

Ok, I stand corrected. I believe that there are people who are stupid enough to believe that a First Cause that existed outside of and prior to nature, space, time and the laws of physics (God) doesn't exist. And I do believe that you are one of them.

  3. Did I say "doesn't exist" ?

  5. Right, these are the same people who believe that there actually CAN be an infinite regress of cause and there actually CAN be a material infinite.

Nobody will ever claim that something infinite 'actually' exists, because it's nothing more than a mathematical representation when we talk of infinity. But you already know that Rod, why do you prefer to ignore this fact?

The 'same people' are actually the people behind the Borde-Guth-Vilenkin Theorem theorem that you used. You did not notice that the quote I put was from GUTH ? He clearly stats that it could be that there are more than one universe, while you claim that there are 1, or 2 when you include your outside fantastic world where your god live in.

Oh but you also said: "Mmm, yes. And the very first of these universes came from?" So you do admit that you have no freaking clue! You have no idea if there are one, two, or many more universes, yet you claim to KNOW, not propose ideas, but KNOW that there are a "First Cause that existed outside of and prior to nature, space, time and the laws of physics", and you label that God.

Now that god might exist, but you certainly did not prove it, will never do so, and simply put a label on something that already has a name.

Interesting, I find you more and more delusional Rod, and even somewhat dishonest but I don't think you do it on purpose, you simply really believe that you have more answers than the average physicist, it's great...

  6. "The inflationary version of cosmology is not cyclic. … It goes on literally forever"

Something that goes on infinitely into the future has no bearing on that thing requiring a finite definitive space / time boundary, a Singularity, a Creation event at the beginning.

"you have more answers than the average physicist"

That would be for atheists to go beyond the evidence and dwell in the land of pure speculation.

We know of ONE mateial universe and
We know of ONE spiritual universe - Period!

The reason that I know of only ONE material universe is because there is evidence for only one material universe - a universe I might repeat that requires a Cause from outside the realm of the material for its beginning.

Speculation is for atheists - no one else.

  7. We know of ONE mateial universe

    Correct!

    but you also say that...

...We know of ONE spiritual universe...

...a universe I might repeat that requires a Cause from outside the realm of the material for its beginning...

That's speculation... a spiritual universe? come on, you gotta be kidding...
