1.6% of the North American population says Christian Missionaries should not interfere with the beliefs of other cultures.
They would rather missionaries hadn’t interfered with an Amazon tribe that practised infanticide.
They would rather missionaries hadn’t interfered with widows being burned to death along side their already deceased husbands in India.
They would rather missionaries hadn’t interfered with infants being sacrificed in the Ganges.
They would rather missionaries hadn’t interfered with the burning of lepers.
They would rather missionaries hadn’t interfered with child marriage.
All of these were stopped because of Christian interference and it angers atheists something awful.
This 1.6% of the population has no basis from which to say any of these behaviours were or are wrong. In fact, as long as the suffering is happening to someone else, and doesn’t threaten to enter the atheist’s home, the people in this population don’t much care what happens to anyone else. This is what they’re like. This is how they think.

Ah - so only a few atheists hate it when Christians work to bring about cultural change. A majority of atheists are actually in favour of Christians fighting against what they believe is wrong. Did I mention that lying comes naturally to atheists?

ReplyDeleteI ask because I gotta tell ya, I was under the impression that atheists believe that cultures themselves or even indiviuals were what determined right and wrong, good and bad. Guess I was wrong.

Yes it's good, why?
I think the religious aspect is a waste of money and time but it does not bother me at all. Missionaries want to do good, and they do, I understand that.
What I discuss with you are ideas, beliefs, opinions. Missionaries' belief in god is no less, or no more true because of what they do.
