You
know how atheists rarely venture outside of the Old Testament lest
they run into teachings of Jesus that convict them of a deep need for
forgiveness? And you know how atheists accuse Christians of
cherry-picking verses to make our case? Do you think atheists ever do
the same thing? Have you ever seen them ranting about this verse?
Lamentations
3:22-23 - Because of the LORD's
great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They
are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.
That preface of yours about Jesus & forgiveness is a bit misleading, as you keep quoting the OT.

38 Is it not from the mouth of the Most High
that both calamities and good things come?
39 Why should the living complain
when punished for their sins?
It's a bit hard to reduce JHV to a benevolent helper... as the Hebrews knew pretty well.
